RENAULT COMMENDED TWICE IN AUTO EXPRESS NEW CAR AWARDS 2017

Renault received commendations in two categories at last night’s Auto Express Awards with ZOE in the Electric Award category and All-New Grand Scénic in the Best MPV category. The Renault ZOE, fitted with the new 250-mile range (NEDC) Z.E.40 battery, was commended in the Electric Award category. The Renault ZOE’s new Z.E. 40 battery delivers almost double the range of the previous battery, providing motorists with an electric vehicle option that is better suited to many lifestyles with the average daily commuting distance being well within the ZOE’s capabilities.  The All-New Grand Scénic, recently launched in the UK, was commended in the Best MPV category. The seven seat All-New Grand Scénic features a fresh approach in term of its design, including 20-inch wheels as standard – a first in its segment. It provides a choice of 21 versions across four specifications, four engines and two transmissions. It provides utmost travelling comfort and modularity with its One Touch Folding Seat functionality that allows all, or some, of the rear seats to be folded automatically, from the driver’s seat or tailgate, to obtain a flat floor and facilitate easy loading. The All-New Grand Scénic comes with a comprehensive suite of driver aids too, including Active Emergency Braking (AEBS) with Pedestrian Detection as standard equipment for the first time in the segment. Commenting on the commendations, Graham Hope, Editor at Auto Express said: "The ZOE is doing a great job of making electric motoring a realistic option for more and more buyers. With its increased range, it makes running an EV viable for many, it doesn't cost the earth to own and it's an enjoyable car to drive, too. Having invented the Compact MPV segment 21 years ago, it’s gratifying to see the Grand Scénic still delivers what it set out to do. The 2017 ZOE with the Z.E.40 battery, as well as interior and exterior upgrades, builds on its previous success and now delivers the longest range of any mainstream electric vehicle. We’re delighted that Auto Express have commended these as vehicles in their respective segments.” Renault is Europe’s best-selling electric car and van manufacturer with a whole range of electric vehicles including the ZOE, Kangoo Van Z.E. and Twizy quadricycle. The Renault Master Z.E. large van was unveiled earlier this year. The ZOE is an all-electric, five-door supermini available in a choice of three trim levels and with two battery options. Despite its affordability, the entry level Expression Nav comes with a high level of standard specification including items such as climate control and the 7-inch touch screen R-Link infotainment system with sat-nav. Dynamique Nav features include hands free keycard, automatic lights and wipers and rear parking sensors. The all-new top-of-the-range Signature Nav trim provides buyers with features including supple leather upholstery, a seven speaker BOSE® audio system, heated front seats and a rear parking camera. All retail customers receive a free 7kW wall box charger fully-installed at their home when they purchase a ZOE. With the new Z.E.40 battery, ZOE’s range is 250 miles (NEDC) – Renault estimates that in real-world driving conditions this equates to around 186 miles in summer and 124 miles in extreme cold winter conditions. ZOE can charge from zero to 80 per cent full in as little as 60 minutes thanks to its patented Chameleon Charger™ that allows it to make the most of the widest range of power supplies and also keep charging times to a minimum. Renault’s Range OptimiZer technology ensures ZOE is highly efficient with its heat pump, a bi-modal braking system and Michelin ENERGY E-V tyres all as standard. The Auto Express Commendation builds on the ZOE’s other achievements in 2017 including ‘Best Electric Car’, and ‘Best Electric Car under £20,000’, for the fourth consecutive year at the What Car? Awards 2017 and ‘Best Ultra Low Emission Vehicle’ at the Fleet World Honours 2017. The ZOE has also been awarded as a Which? ‘Best Buy’ 2016, ‘Best Electric Car’ by CarBuyer and was named ‘Best Supermini’ as well as finishing second overall out of 183 vehicles in the Auto Express Driver Power Awards 2016. The All-New Renault Grand Scénic is a seven seat compact MPV – a segment that Renault created in 1996. DACIA DUSTER COMMENDED AT AUTO EXPRESS NEW CAR AWARDS 2017

The New Dacia Duster received a commendation in the Best Small SUV category at last night’s Auto Express Awards. The New Dacia Duster was praised for its build quality, drive and simplicity, making it a top choice for drivers looking for a great value SUV.   Commenting on the commendation, Graham Hope, Editor at Auto Express said: "The Dacia Duster continues to impress as a no-nonsense, well-built car that's good to drive and exceptional value for money compared to many other cars in this sector of the market. CITROËN CELEBRATES IMPRESSIVE DOUBLE WIN AT AUTO EXPRESS NEW CAR AWARDS 2017

For an incredible fourth consecutive year, the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso has been recognised as the ‘Best MPV’ at the Auto Express New Car Awards. SEAT CONFIRMS UK PRICING AND SPECIFICATION FOR ALL-NEW IBIZA

The countdown has started for the most important event of the year so far for SEAT, with first orders being taken this week for the All-new SEAT Ibiza. The arrival of the hotly anticipated new model this summer promises to add even more impetus to the remarkable sales success the stylish Spanish brand is enjoying nationwide. “Ibiza is an iconic model for SEAT, a best-seller that’s been at the heart of our line-up for more than 30 years,” said Richard Harrison, Director, SEAT UK. “With that kind of heritage, you can be sure the new model will be a benchmark car, taking SEAT quality, design, engineering and technology to an even higher level. “The New Leon range and the Ateca, our first SUV, have set the scene perfectly, generating huge customer response and helping raise UK sales to record heights already this year. The All-new Ibiza will complete a powerful trio at the heart of our brand and we cannot wait to introduce it to British buyers.” Early reports from British media experts who were first to get behind the wheel signal just how good a car the latest Ibiza promises to be. Auto Express magazine declared it “sets the class standard” for superminis, while What Car? reports that it’s “great to look at and to drive – one of the best small cars you can buy”. In terms of street appeal, the All-new Ibiza – now exclusively a five-door – is every inch a modern SEAT, designed and developed in Barcelona. Sporty, edgy lines combine with sculpted bodywork to give the car striking, eye-catching appeal, with a clear bloodline link to the cool styling cues established with the new Leon and Ateca, and further distinguishing SEAT as a leader in contemporary car design. Hot new exterior colours and a class-leading eight-inch infotainment screen have been added too, to keep Ibiza firmly on-trend with current tastes. It’s what lies beneath the skin, however, that defines the All-new Ibiza’s quality as a car that is dynamically rewarding to drive and also remarkably spacious within its compact body. It has the distinction of being the first model to be built on a new modular Volkswagen Group vehicle platform, MQB A0. The new underpinnings are the key to making the latest Ibiza a lithe performer around urban streets and an engaging proposition when out on the open road. Official benchmark figures indicate combined cycle fuel consumption from 60.1 mpg and 106 g/km of CO2 (1.0 TSI 95PS). To add an extra performance dimension to the range, the FR will also be available with a potent 150PS 1.5 EVO engine, while diesels will be added to the line-up later in the year. The breadth of choice takes in four trim levels and top quality equipment specifications that keep the All-new Ibiza firmly in the frame when it comes to today’s customer preferences on technology, “always-on” connectivity, in-car entertainment, comfort and safety. At entry point, the S version keeps things simple and smart, with features including air conditioning, electric front windows, automatic headlights, Bluetooth and advanced safety features including Front Assist.  Moving up to SE grade delivers a wealth of extra features: 15-inch alloys, front fog lights with cornering function, rain-sensing wipers,  cruise control and multi-coloured ambient cabin lighting are all included, together with SEAT’s Media System Colour multimedia package. The FR focuses on sportier looks with 17-inch alloys, dark-tinted rear glass, brilliant black and chrome bodywork details and twin exhausts; likewise, the cabin is fitted with sports front seats and flat-bottom steering wheel and Full Link smartphone integration. Add in sports suspension, rear disc brakes and SEAT Drive Profile with four selectable drive modes and you have a car that adds authentic performance to its arresting looks. XCELLENCE, new to Ibiza, tops out the range, with distinguishing features such as 16-inch machined alloy wheels, Atom Grey door mirror housings, Alcantara upholstery, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry-and-go, front and rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. A wealth of options extend the possibilities even further, including a Beats audio system – reflecting Ibiza’s status as having the youngest customer age profile of any UK supermini. SUMMER FINANCE AND LOYALTY OFFERS FOR ALL-NEW SWIFT

The all-new Swift went on sale at the beginning of June and Suzuki is pleased to announce the availabilty of its attractive PCP finance offers. Personal Contract Purchase is an ideal way for customers to take delivery of a new Suzuki with a very low deposit and low monthly payments too. Suzuki Financial Services is also offering a £500 deposit allowance with 2.9 per cent APR finance on SZ-T and SZ5 two wheel drive models until the end of June. Taking an SZ-T with 1.0 Boosterjet engine as an example with the £500 deposit allowance on offer, no further deposit is required and payments are then spread over 48 months at £185 per month with an APR of just 2.9 per cent. Monthly payments can be lowered to £159 per month for the SZ-T if a small deposit of £1,163 is made. As with any PCP agreement, an optional final payment is required to keep the car which for this model is £4,645. Moving to the top of the range SZ5 1.0-litre Boosterjet 2WD with the £500 deposit allowance, just £1,305 is all that is needed as a customer deposit followed by 48 monthly payments of £179 and an APR of 2.9 per cent. The optional final payment for this model is £5,153. For even greater fuel efficiency, the SZ5 2WD with manual transmission is equipped as standard with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) as standard. In situations that require higher fuel use, such as when starting from a standstill or accelerating, SHVS helps suppress fuel consumption by providing electric motor assist using electricity generated through regenerative braking. Because the system uses a belt drive rather than a conventional starter motor to restart the engine after an engine stop it allows for a quiet and smooth start. The six speed automatic transmission equipped SZ5 is also included in the low rate and deposit allowance offers with a customer deposit of £1,543 required followed by 48 monthly payments of £199 . Suzuki has introduced a new and comprehensive Accessories programme to enable customers to fully personalise their new Swift. As an introductory offer Suzuki will contribute £500 towards these to all existing Suzuki car owners. The only stipulation is that customers must have had a Suzuki car in the same household for at least 90 days and the accessories are ordered at point of purchase. Design The All-New KONA continues Hyundai’s new design identity while adding its own progressive character to create a unique proposition in the sub-compact SUV segment. With its true SUV DNA, strong design and premium features, Hyundai Motor aims to attract new, modern customers. Exterior design The design of the all-new KONA is characterised by its distinctive high-contrast fender cladding and the sensuous and muscular surfaces atop a stable and wide stance.  At the front the twin headlamp design created by the LED day time running lights positioned on top of the LED headlights that are integrated into the cladding create an unique, progressive appearance.  The All-New KONA also features Hyundai Motor’s new family identity, the Cascading Grille with a mesh pattern, at the front that enhances its expressive and dynamic appearance. Its compact and agile character is emphasised by the sleek profile with short rear overhangs and wing type fenders that suggest forward direction. A roof rack enhances the sleek roof line and enhances active lifestyle capability for example by mounting a roof carrier.  The All-New KONA features silver matte accents to enhance the refined character, featuring framing of the fog lights and lower air intakes, an accent line on the side and the skid plate at the rear. Air curtains at the either side of the front bumper enhance aerodynamics by reducing turbulences in the wheel arch area. At the rear, the design theme of the front is reflected featuring the unique wrap around cladding that house the indicator and reversing lights and distinctive graphical elements including the slim LED rear lights. The All-New KONA’s rear spoiler features an integrated LED brake light. With its wide (1,800 mm) and low stance (1,550 mm), the KONA has a bold appearance on the road, further underscored by the 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels (Tyre size: 235/45R18). The All-New KONA is also available with 17” alloy wheels (Tyre size: 215/55R17) as well as 16” (Tyre size: 205/60R16) alloy and steel wheel. Interior design The KONA’s interior design reflects the exterior theme featuring smooth, contoured surfaces on top of the instrument panel contrasting with the dark painted parts representing the technological and rugged character. The colour theme offers customers the chance to tailor their own style with distinct colours: Orange, Lime and Red. The colour accents are featured on the air vent surrounds, around the gearshift, the engine start button ring, the stitching on the seats and steering wheel. All interior colour options come with a black ceiling. The Lime and Red options are moreover available with coloured seat belts as well as glossy black interior door handles and steering wheel spoke. The semi-perforated leather steering wheel adds to the KONA’s stylish, high-quality interior. Owners have the option of tailoring the KONA’s interior to suit their taste, expressing their unique temperament and independent lifestyle. The floating screen of the optional eight-inch navigation touchscreen on the dashboard integrates all navigation, media and connectivity features and thanks to its ergonomic position allows drivers to stay tuned to the traffic ahead at all times. New downsized 1.0 T-GDI and 1.6 T-GDI petrol engines The in-house developed, downsized 1.6 T-GDI four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a performance of 177 PS (130 kW) and 265 Nm torque handles the urban driving environment with ease and is not afraid of ventures into the countryside: 100 km/h are reached in only 7.9 seconds. The KONA comes equipped with Hyundai Motor’s newly developed, compact four-wheel drive and the smooth-shifting 7DCT. Drivers seeking more economical mobility have the option of a downsized 1.0-liter T-GDI 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 120 PS (88 kW) and 172 Nm. A turbocharger with an electronically-controlled waste-gate actuator improves fuel efficiency by lowering pumping losses as well as improving throttle response and low-end torque. The unit features a six-hole GDI injector, pressured to a higher-than-average 200 bar, securing a clean combustion and improving fuel economy and emissions. The engine is offered with front-wheel drive and 6MT. New U 1.6-litre diesel Within a year of the launch, the KONA’s powertrain line-up will be further expanded with the addition of a newly developed, efficient 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine available with two power outputs: A regular 115 PS (85 kW) (preliminary) version with a 6MT and front-wheel drive. The high-power diesel version provides 136 PS (100 kW – preliminary) and powerful 320 Nm in combination with a 7DCT and the choice between four-wheel and front-wheel drive. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission Hyundai Motor introduced its first 7-speed dual-clutch transmission in 2015, combining the benefits of automated and manual transmissions. The 7DCT provides an improvement in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of up to 20% compared with a conventional six-gear automatic transmission, while acceleration performance was increased by up to 10%. The 7DCT consists of two dry clutches and an actuator for each clutch. Engine power is transferred independently to the odd and even gear train so that the driver is always ready to shift to the next gear without any torque interruption. For optimised responsiveness, the electric motor-driven actuator is applied, while external shock absorbers improve the noise, vibration and harshness levels during driving. In combination with the 7-speed dual clutch transmission, the All-New KONA offers two drive modes: normal and sport. In sport mode there is a different shift pattern, with gears being held longer before shifting. Ride and handling The development engineers have designed the All-New KONA with a good balance between power and comfortable ride and handling qualities in addition to agility and nimbleness. The KONA offers customers a true SUV experience thanks to a ground clearance of 170 mm. Its elevated seating position ensures better visibility for drivers and increases driving comfort. At the same time, the lowered interior floor and the optimised tunnel part of the SUV platform allow for a spacious interior which further adds to the Kona’s versatility. The optional four-wheel drive benefits from an adjusted transfer mounting angle, thus improving the turbo engine's performance. The low, wide stance of the KONA not only catches the eye and ensures a strong appearance on the road, it also improves ride and handling capabilities – form follows function. Great care has also gone into the development of the new suspension system. The McPherson strut in the front with its refined geometry delivers a refined body movement on rough roads for a comfortable ride that absorbs shocks before they reach the interior. The coupled torsion beam axle in the rear of the two-wheel drive KONA is characterised by its ride comfort and sporty handling feel thanks to its high-stiffness torsion beam. The All-New KONA with four-wheel drive feature a multi-link rear suspension which helps to optimise ride and handling, maximising stability during accelerated cornering with the dual lower arm-type multi-link. Advanced Traction Cornering Control for four-wheel drive directs understeering and improves the vehicle’s agility and stability by controlling both traction and damping while accelerating in curved sections. Strong, lightweight body Hyundai Motor is the only car manufacturer to make its own steel for the global production of its vehicles, with benefits for the All-New KONA, which features a strong, light body that enhances the dynamic performance and increases passive passenger safety. The ultra-high-strength steel ensures highest rigidity while the broad appliance of hot stamping and 115 m of structural adhesive improve stiffness while reducing weight. Despite the compact exterior, the safety zone of the KONA’s body structure has been maximised and further improved by a ring-shaped cabin structure that disperses crush energy in various directions in the event of a collision and reduces the impact for passengers. The multi-load pass structure also disperses crush energy and works towards the goal of achieving optimal passive safety. The Display Audio system with seven-inch capacitive colour LCD touchscreen integrated rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple Car Play and Android Auto or the third option, the eight-inch navigation system includiing rear view camera with dynamic guidelines, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 7-year subscription to LIVE services, 3D maps, and Lifetime MapcareTM**. Additionally, there is a central information screen located in the center of the instrument cluster between the two dials, available as a 3.5” Mono TFT LCD display (standard) or 4.2” TFT colour display (optional). Accessible connectivity through Display Audio The Display Audio is a Hyundai first and offers customers accessibile connectivity with a seven-inch high-resolution colour LCD touchscreen to connect smartphones via both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Information about the audio mode and radio are also projected. High-end sound system by Krell Today’s customers like to listen to their favourite soundtrack in their car, for this reason the KONA offers a high-end sound system by audio manufacturer Krell featuring eight speakers including two 20 mm tweeters, four 160 mm woofer speakers, one 100 mm centre speaker and a 200 mm subwoofer speaker. The eight-channel amplifier delivers 45 Watt per channel to maximise the audio experience inside the car. Highest level of active safety The All-New KONA features the latest active safety features, to comply with the highest European safety standards: Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Lane Keeping Assist (standard), High Beam Assist, Driver Attention Alert (standard), Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection The All-New KONA is fitted with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, an advanced active safety feature that alerts drivers to emergency situations, braking autonomously if required. Using front radar and camera sensors, AEB operates in three stages. Initially warning the driver visually and acoustically, it controls the brake according to the collision danger stage, and applies maximum braking force to avoid a collision or minimise damage when a collision is unavoidable. The system is activated when a vehicle or pedestrian is sensed in front of the car, operating at speeds of 8 km/h or above. Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) (standard) The Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) alerts the driver in unsafe movements at over 60 km/h by sensing the car’s position. It sounds an alarm before the car moves over white, grey and blue lines as well as Bott’s dots on the road, and warns the driver acoustically and visually before inducing corrective steering to guide the driver back to a safe position. High Beam Assist (HBA) When switched to automatic mode, High Beam Assist (HBA) detects both oncoming vehicles and vehicles in the same lane ahead at night, and changes to low-beam as appropriate, reducing blinding effects on other drivers. Whenever there are no vehicles detected, the system automatically reactivates the high beams, Driver Attention Alert (DAA) (standard) Driver Attention Alert (DAA) raises safety and convenience to an entirely new level by continuously monitoring and analyzing driving patterns through data inputs such as the steering angle, steering torque and vehicle position in the traffic lane. When a pattern of fatigue/distraction is identified, DAA gets the driver’s attention with an audible alert and pop-up message suggesting a break. Blind Spot Detection (BSD) Also using radar, the Blind Spot Detection (BSD) monitors the rear corners and, if another vehicle is detected, a visual alert appears on the exterior mirrors. If the driver then activates the indicators, an audible signal is emitted. This also applies to lane change situations in which a vehicle is detected. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) Using the rear corner radar, the Rear Cross Traffic Collision Alert (RCTA) reduces the risk of collision with approaching traffic when reversing out of narrow areas with low visibility. Using radar to scan a 180-degree area behind the vehicle for approaching cross-traffic, RCTA alerts the driver visually and audibly. Highest Passive Safety The All-New KONA benefits from superior rigidity through the application of high strength steel, high impact energy absorption and minimised distortion in order to protect passengers in the event of a collision. Thanks to an enlarged area for the appliance of hot stamping and a ring-shaped cabin shell structure with ultra-high-strength steel, the safety zone has been enlarged for top crashworthiness. The multiload-pass structure of the cabin disperses energy in the event of a collision in various directions and reduces the impact. Boasting a powerful stance that sets it apart from its rivals, the All-New Koleos takes Renault design cues from other recently introduced C- and D-segment models such as the All-New Mégane and Talisman. There is a choice of two diesel engines – the dCi 130, a 1.6-litre/130hp engine with six-speed manual transmission available in two-wheel drive. This engine provides fuel economy of up to 57.6mpg (NEDC Combined Cycle) and CO2 emissions of 128g/km. The dCi 175, a 2-litre/175hp engine, is available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed Auto X-Tronic transmission, in four-wheel drive. It is the most powerful diesel engine in the Renault range with 380Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. The manual transmission provides fuel economy of up to 50.4 mpg (NEDC Combined Cycle), compared with 47.9mpg for the Auto X-Tronic. The manual’s CO2 emissions are 148g/km and the Auto X-Tronic has CO2 emissions of 156g/km. The new X-Tronic automatic continuously variable transmission offers fluid, responsive driving without any interruption of torque. X-Tronic adjusts continuously whilst maintaining optimal engine speed and can also simulate gear shifts, producing even more powerful acceleration. The four-wheel-drive versions of the All-New Renault Koleos come equipped with the new ALL MODE 4x4-i technology. This enables you to select your driving mode – AUTO, LOCK or 2WD – and keep complete control of the powertrain on any terrain. All versions provide the peace of mind of Renault’s 4+ warranty and assistance package. The car is protected by Renault for four years or 100,000 miles (first two years have no mileage limit). There is also a three-year paint warranty and 12 years’ cover against corrosion. Servicing is required once a year or every 18,000 miles.

NEW DACIA SANDERO TOPS CAP HPIS LOWEST COST OF OWNERSHIP LIST

The New Dacia Sandero 1.0 SCe Access has topped cap hpi’s list of new cars with the lowest motoring costs in the UK. The latest analysis from the automotive data experts looked at the total cost of ownership (TCO) to reveal the cars with the lowest cost over the first three years of ownership, including purchase, servicing, fuel and other motoring costs. The New Dacia Sandero 1.0 SCe Access came out first on the list, as well as topping the small car category at £7,419.64 for the first three years, or £206.10 per month. This was closely followed by the mid-range New Dacia Sandero 1.5 dCi Ambiance at £8,059 or £223.87 per month. Other cars in the increasingly popular Dacia range also feature on the list. Coming second in the SUV category is the New Dacia Duster 1.6 Access SCe 115 4x2 with a total cost of ownership over the first three years of £10,405.31 or £289.04 per month. JEEP ANNOUNCES NEW LIMITED EDITION WRANGLER NIGHT EAGLE

Jeep is expanding its Wrangler range of 4x4 vehicles with the introduction of a stunning limited edition, the Night Eagle. Revealed at this year's Geneva Motor Show, the Jeep Wrangler Night Eagle comes in a choice of striking colours with exclusive decals, and provides a unique style, premium equipment levels and, of course, Jeep's legendary off-road capability. The front seats have been moved outwards by 10mm which has increased the centre-on-centre distance between them by 20mm. Other interior features include a centre console turned five degrees towards the driver, front seats with optimised shape and spring position with heightened side bolsters. The steering wheel is of new design ‘D’-shape section and an LED auto air conditioning panel is also fitted (SZ5 models): Adopting Suzuki’s new generation platform strategy minimised the size of the engine compartment which has enabled maximising the space available for cabin occupants and luggage. Development of New Swift - Put Through Its Paces in EuropeIn order to suit the needs of European customers, Suzuki knew that simply designing and developing the new Swift in Japan would not be sufficient. So it turned to the roads of Europe, where teams of local evaluation drivers helped to hone the new car. Testing of the chassis, which is the centrepiece of the new Swift’s evolution, commenced in January 2016 in the United Kingdom and Germany. Covering a total of more than 6,000 miles, the teams tested as many as 90 different suspension prototypes in an effort to meet the need for optimum steering feel together with providing supple and agile suspension for British roads. Offering the same level of power and torque of a much larger capacity normally aspirated engine (1.7-1.8-litre), it delivers an effortless drive and genuine driving pleasure. This unit has an output of 111PS and is Direct Injection turbocharged (DITC). It is a very compact engine and offers 170Nm of torque available from 2,000rpm through to 3,500rpm for manual transmission. 1.2-litre DualjetSuzuki first introduced its 1.2-litre (K12C) Dualjet technlogy in 2014, initially in the Swift and then in Baleno in June 2016. In summary, Dualjet incorporates Suzuki’s renowned engine technology and uses twin fuel injectors for improved fuel economy. Utilising Dualjet design that positions the fuel injectors very close to the engine inlet valves allows for a finer fuel atomisation. The maximum power output is 90PS with a torque figure of 120Nm at 4,400rpm. Acceleration time to 62mph is 11.9 seconds for the SZ3 2WD and 12.6 seconds for the SHVS ALLGRIP equipped model.  SHVS.The SHVS mild hybrid system is a compact and lightweight system that incorporates an Integrated Starter Generator (known as ISG) which acts as both a generator and starter motor,  the ISG is belt driven and assists the engine during vehicle take off and acceleration and also generates electricity through regenerative braking. In new Swift, SHVS is available together with Boosterjet for the first time and results in CO2 emissions as low as 97gkm. The energy assistance provided during acceleration enables the SHVS to be known as a mild hybrid system which is ideally suited to a compact car and adds just 6.2 kg to the overall weight. 4WD (ALLGRIP AUTO)The new Swift adopts Suzuki’s ALLGRIP ‘AUTO’ four-wheel drive system and is available as an option on the SZ5 model with 1.2-litre engine. First introduced in the previous generation Swift in 2014 this is a well proven and simple fully automatic and permanent four-wheel drive layout which transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when required via a viscous coupling.     Advanced Forward Detection SystemThe new Swift SZ5 features Suzuki’s first use of an advanced forward detection system that combines a monocular camera and a laser sensor for advanced safety functions, including autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and high beam assist. It also uses millimetre-wave radar to enable adaptive cruise control. The advanced forward detection system monocular camera excels at mid to long distance detection and also recognition of traffic elements including pedestrians and lane markers. The laser sensor excels at monitoring shorter distance hazards and also night vision detection. Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) – SZ5 Grade.The advanced forward detection system supports numerous safety technologies, among which is collision-mitigating Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS). With DSBS, at vehicle speeds from approximately 3mph to 62mph and if the system determines a risk of collision with a forward obstacle, it issues both an audio and visual warning. If there is a high risk of collision with a forward obstacle and the driver panic brakes, the system deploys brake assist, increasing braking force. If the risk of a collision increases even more the system applies full automatic braking in an effort to avoid the collision or reduce damage. Advanced Multi-information display.The SZ5 model is equipped with a 4.2 inch high-definition colour LCD display that shows a range of information including engine output and torque data, fuel consumption, average speed, acceleration and brake operation as well as driving G-force tracking. For the SHVS model an energy flow diagram is also included. NEW CAPTUR – EVEN MORE DISTINCTIVE

The New Renault Captur has been unveiled at Geneva International Motor Show. Europe’s best-selling urban crossover in 2016 with sales of 215,670 vehicles, has reinvented itself to feature more distinctive styling and new advanced technologies, without sacrificing any of its user-friendliness.  For the first time, a range-topping Captur Signature S Nav version will be available.   Bolder looks, more colour choice inside and out The New Captur builds on the model’s original success, including its striking two-tone colour scheme, with three new body colours: Desert Orange, Ocean Blue and Amethyst as well as a new Mercury Silver option for the roof. There will be 36 potential combinations enable customers to tailor the appearance of their New Captur to match their personal taste. The New Captur also offers seven different interior touch packs in the following colours: Ivory, Blue, Caramel, Red, Bronze-tinted Chrome, Satin Chrome and Smoked Chrome. These are complemented by exterior customisation packs in a choice of six colours: Ivory, Blue, Cappuccino, Red, Satin Chrome and Orange (hub caps and side sill protector). Full-LED ‘Pure Vision’ front lights (depending on version) enhance both the vehicle’s look and safety, while reducing glare. At the bottom of the bumper, New Captur incorporates the C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights that have become recognised as the brand’s lighting signature. The rear lights similarly include this hallmark, which is visible both night and day. Captur has evolved by taking a step closer in style to its bigger sibling, the Kadjar. The radiator grille has been modified to bring it more into line with the Renault brand’s other crossovers, with the addition of a chrome strip. At both the front and rear, the bumper incorporates new skid plates in evidence of the Captur’s adventurous credentials. Three types of wheel are available across the range: one 16-inch rim (Adventure) and two 17-inch wheels (Emotion and Explore). New Captur can be specified with a fixed glass roof (depending on version). Available exclusively in the vehicle’s two-tone configuration, this new feature provides an even brighter cabin. The cabin is more refined, benefitting from high-quality plastics, sleek chrome and elegantly subdued colours. The steering wheel is made from more upmarket materials and, on certain versions, comes trimmed with full-grain leather. The gear lever boasts a more modern appearance, while the door panels have been revised to seamlessly incorporate buttons and controls. The LED ceiling light provides individual reading lights. Available on some versions, new seats have been designed to be more cosseting, offering additional lateral support and greater comfort. At the same time, the New Captur retains its most practical features, including the availability of removable upholstery and Grip Xtend, depending on trim level. “The Captur was the first model in Renault’s new crossover line-up. It was important for us to refresh its external appearance in line with the newer models in the range, the Kadjar and the forthcoming Koleos. We also enhanced the quality inside the cabin by replacing injection-moulded plastic with trimmed materials, and the choice of colours and fabrics is now more sophisticated too. Careful attention has also been paid to the front and rear skid plates, which feature a more metallic grey finish. The same effect is visible around the windows and drip seals, which are picked out in gloss black. Signature S versions enjoy a specific range of colours, including the new Amethyst launch option. The interior ambience of the New Captur Signature S is just as exclusive, with heated Nappa leather seats, full-grain Nappa leather trimming for the steering wheel, chrome embellishments, leather-trimmed doorpanels, aluminium pedals and aluminium door sills. Finally, all of the in-car technologies available as options for the New Captur, including Blind Spot Warning, Easy Park Assist, hands-free entry and keyless ignition, are standard in the Signature S. These features are complemented by a premium BOSE® audio system and the very latest version of Renault’s R-LINK multimedia system, which grants access to all of the car’s multimedia functions with a single click, as well as all relevant smartphone applications courtesy of Android Auto™. Advanced multimedia systems The BOSE® Premium Sound System transforms the Captur’s cabin into a veritable concert hall, producing authentic, clear and realistic music, worthy of a live performance. This audio experience is achieved via a system based on seven high-definition BOSE® loudspeakers including a subwoofer in the boot. Three multimedia systems are fitted according to equipment level: R&GO, Media Nav and R-LINK Even from its entry equipment level, the New Captur is completely connected courtesy of the new version of R&GO, Renault’s simple, smart system that transforms the user’s smartphone into a connected tablet installed in its universal cradle. Blind Spot Warning and easier parking For the first time, the Captur incorporates Blind Spot Warning, available on certain versions. Four sensors work together to detect the presence of moving vehicles in the door mirror blind spots, including motorbikes and bicycles. When a vehicle is detected in the driver’s blind spot for longer than a second, a warning indicator immediately lights up in the door mirror. Active at speeds between 19mph and 87mph, this technology makes motoring safer for everybody. In addition to its rear parking sensors, and depending on version, the New Captur is also available with front parking sensors and a reverse parking camera to simplify manoeuvring and help to avoid the bumps and scrapes that are an everyday risk in built-up areas. Another new addition – available for higher-end versions – is the Hands Free Parking function, which significantly facilitates parking manoeuvres. The driver begins by indicating what type of parking space they are looking for, be it parallel, perpendicular or at an angle. When the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 19mph, this system detects all available spaces. Once a suitable space has been identified, the system calculates and co-ordinates the vehicle’s steering, meaning the driver does not need to touch the wheel and can focus solely on acceleration and braking. COMBINING THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: IONIQ PLUG-IN AT THE 2017 GENEVA INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW

At the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show, Hyundai Motor is showcasing the IONIQ line-up with focus on the IONIQ Plug-in, due to arrive in showrooms in the UK in July. The IONIQ is the world’s first car with three electrified powertrains. The IONIQ Plug-in is the last model to be launched after the successful market introduction of the IONIQ Hybrid and Electric in the second half of 2016. The IOINQ line-up democratises technology making e-mobility more accessible to a wider audience. The IONIQ is part of Hyundai Motor’s global sustainability strategy to launch 14 eco cars until 2020 including five hybrid vehicles, four plug-in hybrid vehicles, four electric vehicles and one fuel-cell electric vehicle. “With the launch of the IONIQ Plug-in we are completing the IONIQ family and making e-mobility more accessible for everyone.” says Jochen Sengpiehl, Vice President Marketing at Hyundai Motor Europe. “With the choice of three electrified powertrains, the IONIQ is an unique offer – with no compromise as regards to great design, driving pleasure and new connectivity features at a competitive price. It’s a car that is truly driven by e-motion.” Since launch of the IONIQ Hybrid in the second half of 2016, the IONIQ has received thirteen European awards, with several ‘Car of the Year’ titles across Europe for its overall performance, a 2016 Red Dot design award and a five-star Euro NCAP rating in recognition of its outstanding safety. IONIQ Plug-in combining the best of both worlds The IONIQ Plug in combines Hyundai Motor’s new 1.6 GDI direct-injection petrol, four-cylinder engine with class-leading thermal efficiency of 40 percent delivering maximum power of 105 PS and 147 Nm of torque with a 45 kW (61 PS) electric motor that is powered by a 8.9 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery to enable electric driving range up to 63 km while reducing CO2 emission to 26 g/km* and fuel consumption to 1.1 l/100 km* (NEDC combined cycle). Direct driver engagement and great standard safety The IONIQ Plug-in has been engineered for optimum driving dynamics and ride comfort. Hyundai Motor’s in-house developed six-speed dual-clutch transmission enhances driver engagement while increasing efficiency. The different drive modes enhance the driving experience. The Sport Mode applies a sportier steering feel, different transmission logic and a sporty design for the 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster. The lightweight structure, multilink rear suspension and intelligent powertrain layout also contribute to the driving experience of the IONIQ Plug-in. Advanced active safety technologies are made accessible with Autonomous Emergency Braking including pedestrian detection, Lane Keeping Assist System and Smart Cruise Control as standard features. Additionally customers can choose Blind Spot Detection including Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The light and rigid body features 53% Advanced High Strength Steel for better ride and handling characteristics while enhancing passive safety through high impact energy absorption and minimised distortion in the event of a collision. Appealing design with class-leading aerodynamics The IONIQ Plug-in’s exterior features LED headlamps and specially designed 16-inch wheels, while sharing most general details with the Hybrid, such as the front grille, the vertical C-shaped LED daytime running lights and an elegant blue or silver character line below the front and rear bumpers. The sleek aerodynamic shape of the IONIQ helps to achieve a class-leading drag coefficient of just 0.24 Cd and creates an appealing silhouette. Connectivity and driving experience for the mobile generation The IONIQ delivers intuitive smart connectivity and infotainment features via its eight-inch high resolution touchscreen including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless inductive charging, LIVE services for real-time traffic information as well as Hyundai Motor’s unique Lifetime MapcareTM** offering free annual map and software updates. The IONIQ Plug-in enhanced the digital driving experience through its seven-inch digital information cluster. With a high resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, the TFT screen displays all cluster information like the vehicle speed, drive range, navigation information, drive modes, battery status etc. Depending on the selected drive mode, the layout of instrument cluster is changing. In Sport Mode the display changes into a revolving digital speedometer surrounded by an analogue-style tachometer, indicating the engine’s rpm on red coloured background. IONIQ Hybrid The IONIQ Hybrid’s electric motor delivers 32 kW (43.5 PS) with maximum torque of 170 Nm, powered by a lithium-ion-polymer battery with 1.56 kWh capacity positioned under the rear seats. In combination with the 1.6-GDI engine, IONIQ Hybrid offers a system output of 103.6 kW (141 PS) rpm and up to 265 Nm of torque accelerating to a top speed of up to 185 km/h with CO2 emissions as low as 79 g/km (combined). IONIQ Electric The IONIQ Electric offers pure e-mobility through a 28 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery for a maximum range of over 280 km (based on NEDC). The instantly available maximum torque of 295 Nm is delivered by the electric motor with a maximum output of 88 kW (120 PS) through the single-speed reducer transmission accelerating the car up to 165 km/h. 200,000-kilometre warranty on the batteryIn addition to the industry-leading Five Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty, Hyundai Motor includes an enhanced package for customers who opt for the IONIQ, adding an eight-year, 200,000-kilometre warranty on the high-voltage battery. Together with a comprehensive list of standard features and a competitive price, the IONIQ Plug-in provides unique value among alternative-powertrain cars. NEW GENERATION HYUNDAI i30 TOURER: ELEGANCE MEETS VERSATILITY

This year’s Geneva International Motor Show is the stage for the unveiling of the New Generation Hyundai i30 Tourer. The new member of the i30 family maintains the timeless design of its five-door sibling, adding elegance and versatility in its body style. “Designed, developed, tested and manufactured in Europe, the New Generation Hyundai i30 is Hyundai Motor’s DNA car in Europe,” says Thomas A. Schmid, Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe. “The i30 is more than just a model – it is a family of cars, consisting of four body types with unique characters united by a coherent, timeless design. With the new i30 Tourer we are now introducing the next body type, offering elegance and versatility for everyone.” “The New Generation i30 Tourer speaks the language of the i30 family in terms of design, and it carries the new Hyundai family identity – the Cascading Grille,” explains Thomas Bürkle, Chief Designer at Hyundai Design Centre Europe. “The tapering roofline and the dynamic proportions give the Tourer an almost coupé-like silhouette. The sleek and dynamic profile is further emphasised by a rich chrome frame surrounding the side windows.” In combination with the full-LED headlamps and the vertical LED daytime running lights, the New Generation i30 Tourer has a strong visual presence. High versatility with one of the biggest boots in the segment The i30 Tourer’s sleek design does not compromise boot space: with 602 litres of space (VDA 211) and 1,650 litres (VDA 214) with the seats folded, it has one of the biggest boots in the segment. Versatility is further enhanced by the additional storage space beneath the boot floor with several compartments. The overall length of the Tourer is 4,585 mm (5-door version: 4,340 mm), the height is 1,465 mm (1,475 mm with roof rack). The overall width of 1,795 mm and wheelbase of 2,650 mm are the same as the five-door version. Best-in-class standard safety package Hyundai Motor democratises technology by offering latest active safety and connectivity features for the New Generation i30 Tourer. The i30 offers best-in-class standard active safety with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, High Beam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist System always on board. Using camera sensors, the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) fitted in the i30 operates in three stages. Initially warning the driver visually and acoustically, it controls the brake according to the collision danger stage, and applies maximum braking force to avoid a collision or minimise damage when a collision is unavoidable. The optional pedestrian recognition uses a front radar and avoids or mitigates the consequence of an impact with a pedestrian. Driver Attention Alert (DAA) is a driver protection feature which helps monitor driving patterns in order to detect fatigued driving and prevent potential accidents. Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC) keeps a constant speed and distance from the vehicle ahead by automatically accelerating and braking up to 180 km/h. If the traffic comes to a halt, the system applies the brake until the car comes to a standstill and accelerates to the desired speed as soon as the road is clear. The Blind Spot Detector (BSD) with Lane Change Assist monitors the rear corners and, if another vehicle is detected, a visual alert appears on the exterior mirrors. The Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system reduces the risk of collision with approaching traffic when reversing out of narrow areas with low visibility by alerting the driver visually and acoustically. The Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) alerts the driver of unsafe movements at over 60 km/h by sensing the car’s position. It warns the driver before inducing corrective steering to guide the driver back to a safe position. The Speed Limit Information Function (SLIF) identifies road speed signs and displays the speed limit in real time. The information is shown both in the navigation system display as well as in the TFT cluster. A High Beam Assist (HBA) detects both oncoming vehicles and vehicles in the same lane ahead at night and changes to low-beam as appropriate, reducing blinding effects on other drivers. Whenever there are no vehicles detected HBA automatically re-activates the high beams, maximising the driver’s range of vision. Smart and connected The i30 Tourer offers customers a spacious and elegant interior with a horizontal layout and free floating screen for the infotainment system. The eight-inch touch screen of the new generation navigation system offers state-of-the-art connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and LIVE Services. A wireless charging system for smartphones with the Qi standard is available as well. As an alternative, customers can choose between different audio options, including the audio system with a five-inch capacitive LCD touch screen with integrated dynamic rear-view camera, Bluetooth connectivity and My Music functionality. Dynamic and efficient powertrains The powertrain line-up of the i30 Tourer consists of downsized turbocharged engines to enhance efficiency and responsiveness (preliminary fuel consumption in l/100 km for the Hyundai i30 Tourer range: combined 5.8 – 3.6 l/100km, CO2 Emissions 135– 95 g/km*). Customers can choose from two petrol engines and one 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine with 110PS. The Tourer is available with Hyundai’s all-new turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, the 1.4 T-GDI delivers maximum power of 140 PS and the new three-cylinder 1.0 T-GDI that delivers maximum power of 120 PS. Driving dynamics The engineers of Hyundai Motor Europe’s Technical Centre in Germany enhanced the driving dynamics of the New Generation i30 in a rigorous testing programme throughout Europe and on the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife. The highly rigid and light body with 53 % Advanced High Strength Steel provides the basis for good ride and handling characteristics, and the fact that it is combined with 10 % more direct steering and a newly developed chassis means the driver can enjoy dynamic driving together with high levels of comfort. ALFA ROMEO UNVEILS STELVIO FOR FIRST TIME IN EUROPE

Alfa Romeo has launched its first SUV in more than 100 years: the All-New Stelvio. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio comes hot on the heels of the exclusive ‘first edition’ and the range-topping Quadrifoglio, seen for the first time at LA Auto Show. Available in three trim levels - Stelvio, Stelvio Super and Stelvio Tecnica – it will initially be available with a choice of a 280hp 2.0-litre Turbocharged petrol or a 210hp 2.2-litre Diesel engine, both combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Q4 all-wheel drive.    Trim levels The Alfa Romeo Stelvio version is lavishly equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, 8.8-inch Alfa Connect, Alfa D.N.A Rotary selector, 8-speaker audio system, black fabric seats (front with sliding, reclining and height adjustments), Integrated Brake System (IBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) and pedestrian detection. Thanks to the Q4 all-wheel drive system, with rear-wheel-drive bias, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is capable of conquering a mountain hairpin, gravel track or snow-covered roads.  Its architecture includes an active transfer case and front differential designed to give rapid-response management of high torque levels and a compact, lightweight set-up. The Q4 system continuously monitors numerous parameters to optimise torque distribution between the two axles according to what the car is doing and how much grip the road surface offers. IGNIS – WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR 2017 FINALIST

Suzuki is well known as the ‘Small Car Experts’ and is pleased to announce that the recently launched IGNIS has made it as a finalist in the new Urban Car category of the 2017 World Car of The Year. To qualify for the initial judging process, vehicles had to be less than four metres long, suitable in design for everyday use in an urban environment and also on sale in two Continents by the deadline of Spring 2017. JEEP RISE CONTINUES WITH 2016 BEST YEAR EVER IN THE UK

Jeep's continued and growing popularity in the UK is illustrated in yesterday's new car registrations figures, which show the best year in the UK for the legendary 4x4 manufacturer since it started trading here. Jeep capped a hugely successful 2016, with strong December sales taking the total number for the year to a record-breaking 14,090 – up 30.5 per cent on last year’s 10,794. Jeep market share for the year increased to 0.52 per cent compared with 0.41 per cent in 2015, according to figures supplied by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Jeep's 813 cars registered in December compared favourably with the 759 for the same month in 2015. Market share was 0.46 per cent for the month, compared with 0.42 per cent in December last year. Leading the way in terms of 2016 sales was the popular Jeep Renegade B-segment SUV, which accounted for 11,099 sales alone, and there were strong performances from Cherokee (1565), Grand Cherokee (1104), and Wrangler (322). "The year 2016 was a great one for Jeep in the UK, in terms of brand recognition and sales. It was Jeep’s 75thAnniversary – a fantastic milestone to reach – and that helped us to end the year on a high point," says Damien Dally, head of brand, Jeep UK. "People continue to look to Jeep for their next car and, with exciting new products such as Jeep Compass on the way, I am confident we can continue to build on Jeep’s success for many years to come.”

Hyundai Motor UK has officially announced the pricing and specification of the New Generation i30, which will go on sale in the UK on 1st March. New Generation i30 offers a high level of standard safety equipment, with Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Collision Warning System, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Hill Start Assist Control featuring on all models. Standard technology and connectivity equipment also feature with all New Generation i30’s benefitting from DAB and Bluetooth regardless of trim level. For example, leg room in the back seats has increased by 35 mm, while the head room has gone up by 24 mm in the front seats and 17 mm in the back. The boot has also been enlarged by 63 litres, bringing its total capacity to 355 litres, making it best in class. The loading height has also been lowered, proof that SEAT knows how to combine design and functionality. All of the engines available on the new SEAT Ibiza comply with the Euro6 emissions regulation and lead the way in performance, with outstanding features, high mileage and low emissions. There are three aluminium block and cylinder petrol engines to choose from. The first option is the 3 cylinder 1.0 TSI with 95 or 115 PS, along with a turbocompressor, intercooler and direct injection. A new 1.5 TSI will be available in late 2017 with four cylinders and 150 PS. Efficient 1.6 TDI diesel engines will come in 80, 95 and 115 PS varieties. Finally, the new MQB A0 platform allows the New Ibiza to offer a compressed-natural gas (CNG) powered 90-PS 1.0 TSI engine. SEAT is the first maker to offer an engine of this type in this class. The gearboxes available are a manual 5-speed transmission for the 95-PS and lower engines and a 6-speed transmission for the more powerful engines. The dual-clutch DSG 7-speed gearbox is another of the options available on the new SEAT Ibiza. The car’s dynamic behaviour, ride quality and driving comfort are exceptional thanks to the new MQB A0 platform, as well as to the 30% higher torsional stiffness. The new SEAT Ibiza is only available in a 5-door option, which is now more functional and the new design offers the sportier look of a 3-door model. There have also been qualitative leaps forward in terms of noise control, vibrations and ride harshness. The new SEAT Ibiza offers the quality of a more luxurious automobile. 90% OF CAR BUYERS UNAWARE OF NEW ROAD-TAX SYSTEM

Drivers of the lowest-emission petrol and diesel cars could be hit with a hike of £140 a year and those buying a car costing more than £40,000 will be forced to pay a £1,550 levy over the first five years of ownership. Yet the overwhelming majority of motorists don't know the changes are coming. More than 4,000 people took part in our online poll, which asked readers how up to speed they were about the new regime. Just 6% were fully aware of it. The survey also revealed that a mere 8% knew changes are coming – but a massive 86% were totally in the dark. Under the current scheme, scores of different cars are exempt from road tax, or Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). That’s thanks to the fact they emit less than 100 grams per kilometre (g/km) of carbon dioxide (CO2). For cars registered after April, though, only those that produce no CO2 – fully electric and hydrogen cars – will be spared road tax. All other models registered from then will be liable for an annual road-tax bill of £140, regardless of CO2 emissions. While the first year of road tax will still be based on CO2 emissions and range from £10 to £2,000, this fee is almost always absorbed in a car’s on-the-road price – meaning it isn't usually seen as a running cost by consumers. However, cars with a list price of more than £40,000 will also incur an additional £310 levy for the first five years of ownership, bringing their total annual VED bill to £450 during that time. Carbuyer editor Stuart Milne said: "While the changes should provide more reasons for cost-conscious buyers to choose a fully electric vehicle, they remove much of the incentive for buyers to choose low-emission models with a petrol or diesel engine. Remarkably, a 1.0-litre Vauxhall Corsa will attract the same tax bill as a 5.0-litre Ford Mustang once the first year of tax has been paid. "Buyers should also be aware that the list price includes the cost of any options. Choose too many extras and you could unwittingly push your car’s price above £40,000 – that’ll cost you an additional £1,550 over five years." The changes will affect many different models, from small city cars to large hybrid and electric SUVs. Because petrol engines generally emit more CO2 than their diesel counterparts, buyers have been incentivised to buy diesels for some time. In turn, carmakers have focused on driving down the amount of CO2 these cars emit. The new system is also being brought in because while diesel engines emit relatively little CO2, recent research indicates other emissions – including mono nitrogen oxides and particulate matter – are more harmful than was once thought. Petrol engines, while emitting more CO2, tend to be cleaner in this regard. It’s not all bad news, though: drivers who want to drive a petrol car but may have been put off by high tax rates are likely to find their engine of choice becomes more affordable under the new system, as the playing field between diesel and petrol becomes more level. And it'll provide another reason for buyers to consider an all-electric or hydrogen-powered car. The hugely popular Jeep Renegade has been named 4x4 Magazine’s ‘4x4 of the Year 2017’, retaining the crown for the second year in a row. HYUNDAI IONIQ ELECTRIFIES AT THE NEXT GREEN CAR AWARDS

The new Hyundai IONIQ has been hailed as Next Green Car’s Car of the Year 2016. Next Green Car’s judges also awarded IONIQ Electric with the top spot in Small Family category, against the Renault Megane, Fiat Tipo and Volvo V40. The judges praised IONIQ’s capabilities as an all round family car, as well as its recognised eco credentials as a zero emission electric vehicle. The Next Green Car judge’s explained the verdicts "It's tough to find any weaknesses with the Hyundai IONIQ Electric. Plenty of range-stretching features help make the IONIQ Electric an easy EV to drive over long distances, while the company has also packed in plenty of performance, practicality, and value for money into the package.” Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO Hyundai Motor UK, said “We are very pleased to receive both of these awards from Next Green Car. First Jeep collected the Winner of Digital Experience accolade at the recent Events Awards 2016 at the Eventim Apollo, London. Then the SUV brand followed up with the Winner, Most Effective Integration/Amplification title at the Brand Experience Awards, held at London’s Troxy. Suzuki Motor Corporation unveiled the new IGNIS for Europe at the 2016 Paris Motor Show as its new global compact crossover and it clearly demonstrates convenience and comfort in a stylish new exterior. It exudes Suzuki DNA from every pore, while at the same time introducing an entirely new design with unique character. In addition to its stylish exterior design in a compact size of just 3,700mm long, the IGNIS  features excellent visibility, a spacious cabin and ample luggage space. It also inherits the first-generation Cervo’s (SC100 Whizzkid ) slit-like ‘C’pillar design cues and also the Swift’s distinctive blacked out ‘A’ and ‘B’ pillar design. Interior design In addition to its simple yet unique design, the characteristic image of the IGNIS is further enhanced by its interior ambience. The round shape of its air-conditioning system’s panel and the advanced feel of its distinctive instrument cluster design combine to give the cabin environment a futuristic look. Depending on the choice of exterior colour, orange and metallic titanium accent colours add an extra touch of quality to the cabin and help establish an active image that befits a crossover. Capacity Adopting Suzuki’s new generation platform strategy minimised the size of the engine compartment which has enabled maximising the space available for cabin occupants and luggage. Another feature is large-capacity luggage space of 267L (SZ3), (204L for ALLGRIP model utilising a rear differential). It also adopts sliding rear seat functionality that, combined with the ability to fold down the rear seatbacks, makes it possible to accommodate a wide variety of luggage. Specification Highlights Standard equipment for all Ignis models in the range is comprehensive and the SZ3 model includes six airbags, air conditioning, DAB radio with Bluetooth, 15-inch wheels, body coloured door mirrors, front electric windows and five seat capacity.  SZ-T adds satellite navigation, rear view camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, wheel arch extensions and four seat capacity with individually sliding rear seats. SZ5 adds auto air conditioning, Dual Camera Brake Support, keyless entry and start, rear electric windows, LED Headlghts with DRL and front foglamps. IGNIS is available in one solid colour, five optional metallic colours and five two tone colours whereby the roof colour on all is Super Pearl Black Metallic.   Suzuki first introduced its 1.2-litre Dualjet technlogy (K12C) in 2014, initially in the Swift, and then utilised in the Baleno SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) in June 2016. In summary, Dualjet incorporates Suzuki’s engine technology and uses twin fuel injectors for improved fuel economy. Dualjet design positions the fuel injectors very close to the engine inlet valves which allows for a finer fuel atomisation (or mixture). Available on the SZ5 manual model, the SHVS mild hybrid is a compact and lightweight unit that incorporates an Integrated Starter Generator (known as ISG) which acts as both a generator and starter motor, the ISG is belt driven and assists the engine during vehicle take off and acceleration and also generates electricity through regenerative braking. The SHVS system only uses its conventional engine starter motor when first started from cold, under all other conditions it uses the ISG unit to allow smooth and quiet engine restarts. The energy assistance provided during acceleration enables the SHVS to be known as a mild hybrid system which is ideally suited to a compact car and adds just 6.2kg to the overall weight. In the new IGNIS the SHVS system helps Suzuki reach a top class CO2 emissions figure of 97g/km plus achieve a fuel consumption figure of 65.7mpg on the EC combined cycle for the 2WD model. 4WD (ALLGRIP AUTO) The new IGNIS adopts Suzuki’s ALLGRIP ‘AUTO’ four-wheel drive system and is available on the SZ5 model. First introduced in Swift, this is a well proven and simple fully automatic and permanent four-wheel drive layout which transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when required via a viscous coupling.    Enhancements to the IGNIS ALLGRIP system include Hill Descent Control and Grip Control. Grip Control activates on slippery surfaces at speeds of less than 18mph. Once switched on by the driver, it focuses torque on the driven wheels that have grip and will quickly apply braking to the wheel that is spinning. Safety equipment The IGNIS adopts Suzuki‘s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept that provides a high level of collision safety. Some of the features include collapsible structures that absorb impact energy in the event of a collision, a frame structure that effectively disperses impact energy, and rigid cabin structure. As an additional safety feature on the SZ5 model, Dual Camera Brake Support (DCBS) is fitted which utilises stereo cameras located on each side of the drivers interior rear view mirror. These function in a similar way to the human eye and detect lane markings as well as objects ahead (including pedestrians) and also their distance away. This new feature has enabled the IGNIS SZ5 to be awarded Five Stars in the latest NCAP tests. Convenience The IGNIS SZ3 model has a fixed rear seat and the luggage area has a capacity of 267 litres (VDA) with the rear seat in its upright position. On SZ-T and SZ5 models the two individual rear seats can slide 165mm to provide either greater luggage capacity or more rear passenger leg room; additionally, the seat backrests have a two position recline function. The luggage capacity increases to 514 litres with both rear seats folded and can be as high as 1,100 litres if fully loaded to the roof line.

RENAULT ZOE WINS BEST SUPERMINI AT NEXT GREEN CAR AWARDS 2016

Only weeks after the launch of a new version with the longest available range for a mainstream electric car, the Renault ZOE has underlined its class-leading usability by being voted the Best Supermini at the Next Green Car Awards. Europe’s best-selling electric car was awarded the win after eclipsing the other cars shortlisted in the fiercely-contested category. The Fiat 500 continues to scoop top industry accolades, but not just as a new car – as the latest in a long line of awards for the popular city car demonstrates.
