Latest News: The Ateca has been awarded Honest John’s Car of the Year award, adding yet another accolade to its haul since it was launched last summer. Our SUV was also named best crossover. The Honest John awards are based on the number of page views for each new car review during the year, with about two million unique page visits across the site every month. Dan Powell, Honest John’s Managing Editor, said: “We had to wait a long time for SEAT’s first crossover, but the good-looking and affordable Ateca is proof that good things do indeed come to those who wait. “Over the past 12 months, no other car has come close to matching the admiration of the Ateca, with our readers praising its style, comfort and running costs. As a result, the superb SEAT takes both the car of the year and most-popular crossover awards for 2017.” Richard Harrison, Director of SEAT UK, said: “This is a fantastic award to receive, not least because it’s based on real-world enthusiasm for the Ateca, expressed by the huge numbers of people who use Honest John’s website. “The Ateca is proving a huge hit for us in the UK and, in truth, we could hardly have scripted a better start for it, both in terms of its sales success and multi-award-winning first few months on sale.”

Third all-new model utilising Suzuki’s ‘HEARTECT’ lightweight platform strategy – kerb weight of just 890kg for SZ3 model. Available with ALLGRIP ‘AUTO’ 4WD system. Global Swift sales of 5.4 million units since 2005 1 million sales in Europe since 2005, 127,000 in the UK. Manufactured for Europe at the Sagara plant in Japan. Following on from its launch in the Japanese domestic market late last year, Suzuki Motor Corporation now unveils the new European Swift at the Geneva Motor Show as its all-new global supermini. It carries forward the Swift DNA while adopting completely new styling and a performance-enhancing extremely light body with advanced safety technologies. The result is exterior European flair complemented by a sporty and functional interior, nimble and agile driving, and enhanced peace of mind. In addition to its stylish exterior design in a compact size of just 3,840mm long, the new Swift  features excellent visibility, a spacious cabin and ample luggage space. The development goal was to create an all new hatchback styling that is undoubtedly Suzuki. Swift is a very popular and important car in the range and has reached 5.4 million sales globally in less than 12 years, faster than any other Suzuki model. New-generation platform ‘HEARTECT’Under the ‘SUZUKI NEXT 100’ plan announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015, Suzuki  developed a new platform strategy for its future models and the Swift is now the third model (following Baleno and IGNIS) to adopt this new generation platform and be introduced in Europe. The new Swift rests on a new-generation platform “HEARTECT” that delivers enhanced fundamental vehicle performance due to being light and highly rigid. A comprehensive overhaul of the underbody’s structure and component layout resulted in the adoption of a highly rigid frame that enhances collision safety. This new platform or underbody of new Swift is now 30kg lighter than before which has contributed to the car registering a kerb weight of just 890kg (SZ3 model) - 120kg lighter overall for the whole car. The new Swift is 10mm shorter than the outgoing model, while its wheelbase is 20mm longer, creating more interior room including 25 per cent more luggage capacity at 254L, or 54 litres more than the outgoing model. It is also 15mm lower and 40mm wider, further accentuating its low and wide stance. Additionally, the European Swift has a wider front and rear track than the Japanese Domestic model. Key dimensions Length: 3,840mm Width: 1,735mm; Height: 1,495mm (2WD) 1,520mm (4WD) Wheelbase: 2,450mm; Track: front/rear: 1,520 – 1,530mm/1,520 – 1,525mm (Dependent on Grade / Tyre Size) Behind the New Swift: Aspects of Styling InnovationDevelopment of the new Swift’s exterior design was based on the concept of a “bold evolution of Swift’s DNA”. While resolute efforts were made so that the new Swift would inherit the model’s characteristic styling, elements that needed refreshing were boldly transformed to innovatively evolve the new car. Enhanced carry-over elements include strong shoulders, blacked-out A-pillars and vertically arranged front and rear lamps. Swift now offers a more emotional appearance together with a muscular and well-grounded look. The body is shorter, lower and wider, while a wide and aggressive front grille, supporting bumper grille character lines all express strength. The look of a low centre of gravity is further established by blacked-out pillars that create the appearance of a floating roof. Pillar-mounted door handles add both style and a sporty flair while a high-tech look comes in the form of LED signature illumination usedin the headlamps and rear-combination lamps (SZ5 model). Smarter packagingDuring interior design, lowering the seating positions has ensured sufficient head clearance (the same as for outgoing Swift for the front seats) and added 23mm vertical and lateral space for the rear seating positions. The front seats have been moved outwards by 10mm which has increased the centre-on-centre distance between them by 20mm. Other interior features include a centre console turned five degrees towards the driver, front seats with optimised shape and spring position with heightened side bolsters. The steering wheel is of new design ‘D’-shape section and an LED auto air conditioning panel is also fitted (SZ5 models): Adopting Suzuki’s new generation platform strategy minimised the size of the engine compartment which has enabled maximising the space available for cabin occupants and luggage. Development of New Swift - Put Through Its Paces in EuropeIn order to suit the needs of European customers, Suzuki knew that simply designing and developing the new Swift in Japan would not be sufficient. So it turned to the roads of Europe, where teams of local evaluation drivers helped to hone the new car. Testing of the chassis, which is the centrepiece of the new Swift’s evolution, commenced in January 2016 in the United Kingdom and Germany. Covering a total of more than 6,000 miles, the teams tested as many as 90 different suspension prototypes in an effort to meet the need for optimum steering feel together with providing supple and agile suspension for British roads. Specification HighlightsStandard equipment for all models in the range is comprehensive and the SZ3 model with 1.2-litre Dualjet engine and manual transmission will include six airbags, air conditioning, leather steering wheel, DAB radio with Bluetooth and four speakers, rear privacy glass, LED daytime running lights, 15-inch wheels, body coloured door mirrors and front electric windows.    The SZ-T model available with 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine and manual transmission adds rear view camera, Smartphone link display audio, 16-inch alloy wheels and front fog lamps glass. SZ5 adds auto air conditioning, 16-inch polished alloy wheels, satellite navigation, Advanced forward detection system, keyless entry and start and rear electric windows, Boosterjet technology. After the debut of the 1.0-litre three cylinder Boosterjet in Baleno in June 2016 and S-Cross in October 2016, this engine technology is now extended to the new Swift. Offering the same level of power and torque of a much larger capacity normally aspirated engine (1.7-1.8-litre), it delivers an effortless drive and genuine driving pleasure. This unit has an output of 111PS and is Direct Injection turbocharged (DITC). It is a very compact engine and offers 170Nm of torque available from 2,000rpm through to 3,500rpm for manual transmission. 1.2-litre DualjetSuzuki first introduced its 1.2-litre (K12C) Dualjet technlogy in 2014, initially in the Swift and then in Baleno in June 2016. In summary, Dualjet incorporates Suzuki’s renowned engine technology and uses twin fuel injectors for improved fuel economy. Utilising Dualjet design that positions the fuel injectors very close to the engine inlet valves allows for a finer fuel atomisation. The maximum power output is 90PS with a torque figure of 120Nm at 4,400rpm. Acceleration time to 62mph is 11.9 seconds for the SZ3 2WD and 12.6 seconds for the SHVS ALLGRIP equipped model.  SHVS.The SHVS mild hybrid system is a compact and lightweight system that incorporates an Integrated Starter Generator (known as ISG) which acts as both a generator and starter motor,  the ISG is belt driven and assists the engine during vehicle take off and acceleration and also generates electricity through regenerative braking. In new Swift, SHVS is available together with Boosterjet for the first time and results in CO2 emissions as low as 97gkm. The energy assistance provided during acceleration enables the SHVS to be known as a mild hybrid system which is ideally suited to a compact car and adds just 6.2 kg to the overall weight. 4WD (ALLGRIP AUTO)The new Swift adopts Suzuki’s ALLGRIP ‘AUTO’ four-wheel drive system and is available as an option on the SZ5 model with 1.2-litre engine. First introduced in the previous generation Swift in 2014 this is a well proven and simple fully automatic and permanent four-wheel drive layout which transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when required via a viscous coupling.     Advanced Forward Detection SystemThe new Swift SZ5 features Suzuki’s first use of an advanced forward detection system that combines a monocular camera and a laser sensor for advanced safety functions, including autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and high beam assist. It also uses millimetre-wave radar to enable adaptive cruise control. The advanced forward detection system monocular camera excels at mid to long distance detection and also recognition of traffic elements including pedestrians and lane markers. The laser sensor excels at monitoring shorter distance hazards and also night vision detection. Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) – SZ5 Grade. The advanced forward detection system supports numerous safety technologies, among which is collision-mitigating Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS). With DSBS, at vehicle speeds from approximately 3mph to 62mph and if the system determines a risk of collision with a forward obstacle, it issues both an audio and visual warning. If there is a high risk of collision with a forward obstacle and the driver panic brakes, the system deploys brake assist, increasing braking force. If the risk of a collision increases even more the system applies full automatic braking in an effort to avoid the collision or reduce damage. Advanced Multi-information display. The SZ5 model is equipped with a 4.2 inch high-definition colour LCD display that shows a range of information including engine output and torque data, fuel consumption, average speed, acceleration and brake operation as well as driving G-force tracking. For the SHVS model an energy flow diagram is also included. Display audio system with navigation and smartphone connectivityThe audio system for both SZ-T and SZ5 models has a Smartphone Linkage Display Audio  (SLDA) with a large seven inch touch panel display that enables intuitive operation and can also be used when wearing gloves. A three dimensional navigation map makes landmarks easy to distinguish and the system also allows the driver to use certain smartphone applications with MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connection. The all new Swift goes on sale in the UK on June 1st 2017.

Europe’s best-selling urban crossover in 2016 with sales of 215,670 vehicles, has reinvented itself to feature more distinctive styling and new advanced technologies, without sacrificing any of its user-friendliness.  For the first time, a range-topping Captur Signature S Nav version will be available.   Bolder looks, more colour choice inside and out The New Captur builds on the model’s original success, including its striking two-tone colour scheme, with three new body colours: Desert Orange, Ocean Blue and Amethyst as well as a new Mercury Silver option for the roof. There will be 36 potential combinations enable customers to tailor the appearance of their New Captur to match their personal taste. The New Captur also offers seven different interior touch packs in the following colours: Ivory, Blue, Caramel, Red, Bronze-tinted Chrome, Satin Chrome and Smoked Chrome. These are complemented by exterior customisation packs in a choice of six colours: Ivory, Blue, Cappuccino, Red, Satin Chrome and Orange (hub caps and side sill protector). Full-LED ‘Pure Vision’ front lights (depending on version) enhance both the vehicle’s look and safety, while reducing glare. At the bottom of the bumper, New Captur incorporates the C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights that have become recognised as the brand’s lighting signature. The rear lights similarly include this hallmark, which is visible both night and day. Captur has evolved by taking a step closer in style to its bigger sibling, the Kadjar. The radiator grille has been modified to bring it more into line with the Renault brand’s other crossovers, with the addition of a chrome strip. At both the front and rear, the bumper incorporates new skid plates in evidence of the Captur’s adventurous credentials. Three types of wheel are available across the range: one 16-inch rim (Adventure) and two 17-inch wheels (Emotion and Explore). New Captur can be specified with a fixed glass roof (depending on version). Available exclusively in the vehicle’s two-tone configuration, this new feature provides an even brighter cabin. The cabin is more refined, benefitting from high-quality plastics, sleek chrome and elegantly subdued colours. The steering wheel is made from more upmarket materials and, on certain versions, comes trimmed with full-grain leather. The gear lever boasts a more modern appearance, while the door panels have been revised to seamlessly incorporate buttons and controls. The LED ceiling light provides individual reading lights. Available on some versions, new seats have been designed to be more cosseting, offering additional lateral support and greater comfort. At the same time, the New Captur retains its most practical features, including the availability of removable upholstery and Grip Xtend, depending on trim level. “The Captur was the first model in Renault’s new crossover line-up. It was important for us to refresh its external appearance in line with the newer models in the range, the Kadjar and the forthcoming Koleos. We also enhanced the quality inside the cabin by replacing injection-moulded plastic with trimmed materials, and the choice of colours and fabrics is now more sophisticated too. We have paid great attention to every detail overall and the strength of the car. We have upgraded the fit and finish of the car.” Mario Polla Captur Design Project Manager All-New Signature S Nav trim level A chrome-detailed grille immediately sets the New Captur Signature S apart. Careful attention has also been paid to the front and rear skid plates, which feature a more metallic grey finish. The same effect is visible around the windows and drip seals, which are picked out in gloss black. Signature S versions enjoy a specific range of colours, including the new Amethyst launch option. The interior ambience of the New Captur Signature S is just as exclusive, with heated Nappa leather seats, full-grain Nappa leather trimming for the steering wheel, chrome embellishments, leather-trimmed doorpanels, aluminium pedals and aluminium door sills. Finally, all of the in-car technologies available as options for the New Captur, including Blind Spot Warning, Easy Park Assist, hands-free entry and keyless ignition, are standard in the Signature S. These features are complemented by a premium BOSE® audio system and the very latest version of Renault’s R-LINK multimedia system, which grants access to all of the car’s multimedia functions with a single click, as well as all relevant smartphone applications courtesy of Android Auto™. Advanced multimedia systems The BOSE® Premium Sound System transforms the Captur’s cabin into a veritable concert hall, producing authentic, clear and realistic music, worthy of a live performance. This audio experience is achieved via a system based on seven high-definition BOSE® loudspeakers including a subwoofer in the boot. Three multimedia systems are fitted according to equipment level: R&GO, Media Nav and R-LINK Even from its entry equipment level, the New Captur is completely connected courtesy of the new version of R&GO, Renault’s simple, smart system that transforms the user’s smartphone into a connected tablet installed in its universal cradle. This practical system enables the user to intuitively access the car’s most useful functions, including navigation via an in-app purchase, telephone, multimedia and vehicle data. Certain versions are equipped with Media Nav – a comprehensive multimedia system that offers excellent value for money, considering the wealth of features it incorporates: navigation with traffic information, Bluetooth handsfree calling, audio streaming via the user’s smartphone, plus a Driving Eco2 function to optimise driving performance and fuel consumption. Renault R-LINK provides the New Captur with an advanced multimedia system. More customisable than ever, it comes with a 7-inch screen. It incorporates navigation with real-time traffic updates, 3G connectivity, Bluetooth, media playback (photos, videos) and a wide variety of applications via Renault’s R-LINK Store, as well as management of the vehicle’s driving aids (depending on version). For the first time R-LINK is compatible with Android Auto™. Available as standard with the R-LINK system, Android Auto grants users easy and direct access – via the 7-inch R-LINK display – to smartphone applications: telephone functions, navigation, music and messages. Blind Spot Warning and easier parking For the first time, the Captur incorporates Blind Spot Warning, available on certain versions. Four sensors work together to detect the presence of moving vehicles in the door mirror blind spots, including motorbikes and bicycles. When a vehicle is detected in the driver’s blind spot for longer than a second, a warning indicator immediately lights up in the door mirror. Active at speeds between 19mph and 87mph, this technology makes motoring safer for everybody. In addition to its rear parking sensors, and depending on version, the New Captur is also available with front parking sensors and a reverse parking camera to simplify manoeuvring and help to avoid the bumps and scrapes that are an everyday risk in built-up areas. Another new addition – available for higher-end versions – is the Hands Free Parking function, which significantly facilitates parking manoeuvres. The driver begins by indicating what type of parking space they are looking for, be it parallel, perpendicular or at an angle. When the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 19mph, this system detects all available spaces. Once a suitable space has been identified, the system calculates and co-ordinates the vehicle’s steering, meaning the driver does not need to touch the wheel and can focus solely on acceleration and braking. Renault continues to refresh its product range and reassert its commitment to customer choice in crossovers, and will soon offer three different models: The New Captur: a customisable, B-segment urban crossover, available in the UK from summer 2017.The Kadjar: unveiled in Europe in 2015, the Kadjar is an attractive C-segment crossover designed for getting off the beaten track. The New Koleos: unveiled in 2016 and set to arrive in the UK in summer 2017. This D-segment vehicle artfully blends all the qualities expected of a crossover with the equipment and performance of a saloon car. These three vehicles share Renault’s hallmark French design, underscoring their dynamism and strength, as well as increasingly refined and comfortable cabins.

NEW GENERATION HYUNDAI i30 TOURER: ELEGANCE MEETS VERSATILITY

This year’s Geneva International Motor Show is the stage for the unveiling of the New Generation Hyundai i30 Tourer. The new member of the i30 family maintains the timeless design of its five-door sibling, adding elegance and versatility in its body style. “Designed, developed, tested and manufactured in Europe, the New Generation Hyundai i30 is Hyundai Motor’s DNA car in Europe,” says Thomas A. Schmid, Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe. “The i30 is more than just a model – it is a family of cars, consisting of four body types with unique characters united by a coherent, timeless design. With the new i30 Tourer we are now introducing the next body type, offering elegance and versatility for everyone.” “The New Generation i30 Tourer speaks the language of the i30 family in terms of design, and it carries the new Hyundai family identity – the Cascading Grille,” explains Thomas Bürkle, Chief Designer at Hyundai Design Centre Europe. “The tapering roofline and the dynamic proportions give the Tourer an almost coupé-like silhouette. The sleek and dynamic profile is further emphasised by a rich chrome frame surrounding the side windows.” In combination with the full-LED headlamps and the vertical LED daytime running lights, the New Generation i30 Tourer has a strong visual presence. High versatility with one of the biggest boots in the segment The i30 Tourer’s sleek design does not compromise boot space: with 602 litres of space (VDA 211) and 1,650 litres (VDA 214) with the seats folded, it has one of the biggest boots in the segment. Versatility is further enhanced by the additional storage space beneath the boot floor with several compartments. The overall length of the Tourer is 4,585 mm (5-door version: 4,340 mm), the height is 1,465 mm (1,475 mm with roof rack). The overall width of 1,795 mm and wheelbase of 2,650 mm are the same as the five-door version. Best-in-class standard safety package Hyundai Motor democratises technology by offering latest active safety and connectivity features for the New Generation i30 Tourer. The i30 offers best-in-class standard active safety with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, High Beam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist System always on board. Using camera sensors, the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) fitted in the i30 operates in three stages. Initially warning the driver visually and acoustically, it controls the brake according to the collision danger stage, and applies maximum braking force to avoid a collision or minimise damage when a collision is unavoidable. The optional pedestrian recognition uses a front radar and avoids or mitigates the consequence of an impact with a pedestrian. Driver Attention Alert (DAA) is a driver protection feature which helps monitor driving patterns in order to detect fatigued driving and prevent potential accidents. Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC) keeps a constant speed and distance from the vehicle ahead by automatically accelerating and braking up to 180 km/h. If the traffic comes to a halt, the system applies the brake until the car comes to a standstill and accelerates to the desired speed as soon as the road is clear. The Blind Spot Detector (BSD) with Lane Change Assist monitors the rear corners and, if another vehicle is detected, a visual alert appears on the exterior mirrors. The Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system reduces the risk of collision with approaching traffic when reversing out of narrow areas with low visibility by alerting the driver visually and acoustically. The Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) alerts the driver of unsafe movements at over 60 km/h by sensing the car’s position. It warns the driver before inducing corrective steering to guide the driver back to a safe position. The Speed Limit Information Function (SLIF) identifies road speed signs and displays the speed limit in real time. The information is shown both in the navigation system display as well as in the TFT cluster. A High Beam Assist (HBA) detects both oncoming vehicles and vehicles in the same lane ahead at night and changes to low-beam as appropriate, reducing blinding effects on other drivers. Whenever there are no vehicles detected HBA automatically re-activates the high beams, maximising the driver’s range of vision. Smart and connected The i30 Tourer offers customers a spacious and elegant interior with a horizontal layout and free floating screen for the infotainment system. The eight-inch touch screen of the new generation navigation system offers state-of-the-art connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and LIVE Services. A wireless charging system for smartphones with the Qi standard is available as well. As an alternative, customers can choose between different audio options, including the audio system with a five-inch capacitive LCD touch screen with integrated dynamic rear-view camera, Bluetooth connectivity and My Music functionality. Dynamic and efficient powertrains The powertrain line-up of the i30 Tourer consists of downsized turbocharged engines to enhance efficiency and responsiveness (preliminary fuel consumption in l/100 km for the Hyundai i30 Tourer range: combined 5.8 – 3.6 l/100km, CO2 Emissions 135– 95 g/km*). Customers can choose from two petrol engines and one 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine with 110PS. The Tourer is available with Hyundai’s all-new turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, the 1.4 T-GDI delivers maximum power of 140 PS and the new three-cylinder 1.0 T-GDI that delivers maximum power of 120 PS. Driving dynamics The engineers of Hyundai Motor Europe’s Technical Centre in Germany enhanced the driving dynamics of the New Generation i30 in a rigorous testing programme throughout Europe and on the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife. The highly rigid and light body with 53 % Advanced High Strength Steel provides the basis for good ride and handling characteristics, and the fact that it is combined with 10 % more direct steering and a newly developed chassis means the driver can enjoy dynamic driving together with high levels of comfort. Made in Europe Designed in Hyundai Motor Europe’s Technical Centre in Rüsselsheim, produced in Nošovice, Czech Republic, and tested on the Nürburgring, the third generation i30 family is built on the infrastructure that Hyundai Motor has developed over the last 25 years in Europe. It aims to continue the success of the two previous generations of i30, which have sold more than 800,000 cars in Europe since 2008. *Official combined cycle test –All values are tentative and not homologated yet, hence subject to changes.

"Sporting and agile on-road and rugged and capable off it, this limited edition newcomer fits perfectly into Renegade's highly successful family." Jeep unveiled the new Renegade Desert Hawk by towing one of the UK’s top sandboarders through a series of stunts and tricks on Braunton Burrows sand dune, North Devon. British board-rider and instructor Alex Bird helped mark today’s launch of the Renegade Desert Hawk by becoming the first participant in his sport to be towed by a car in the UK.  In extreme conditions, the Jeep Renegade again displayed its famous off-road capabilities helping Alex to reach speeds of 40mph and negotiate several grind rail stunts, jumps and 90-feet sand banks.  “I’ve never done anything like that before,” says Alex, 34. “It took time to get used to being towed at such speeds but I do a lot of wakeboarding and it was principally very similar. The car performed incredibly well on such deep sand; if it wasn’t so good off-road there is no way I could have got up to 40mph and nailed the jumps and stunts.”

ALFA ROMEO UNVEILS STELVIO FOR FIRST TIME IN EUROPE

Alfa Romeo has launched its first SUV in more than 100 years: the All-New Stelvio. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio comes hot on the heels of the exclusive ‘first edition’ and the range-topping Quadrifoglio, seen for the first time at LA Auto Show. Available in three trim levels - Stelvio, Stelvio Super and Stelvio Tecnica – it will initially be available with a choice of a 280hp 2.0-litre Turbocharged petrol or a 210hp 2.2-litre Diesel engine, both combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Q4 all-wheel drive.    Trim levels The Alfa Romeo Stelvio version is lavishly equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, 8.8-inch Alfa Connect, Alfa D.N.A Rotary selector, 8-speaker audio system, black fabric seats (front with sliding, reclining and height adjustments), Integrated Brake System (IBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) and pedestrian detection. This version also includes parking sensors, cruise control, electric tailgate and dusk and rain sensors. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Super version builds on this with additional interior and exterior features: 18-inch alloy wheels, techno-leather and fabric seats in a choice of three colours (black, black/brown and black/red), and three options for the dashboard and door panels (black, black/brown or black/red) and door sills with steel inserts. An additional Luxury Pack and Sports Pack are also available to customers looking to go the extra mile. Alfa Romeo Stelvio Super’s Luxury Pack includes full grain leather seats (in black, brown, red or beige) with electrical adjustment and heating system, as well as real wood inserts. The Sport Pack comes with heated sports steering wheel, specific grip and leather wrapping, racing-style leather seats in black, red or brown, with electric adjustment and heating system, aluminium inserts and steel pedals. The introduction of Alfa Romeo Stelvio Tecnica offers a strong proposition to fleet, corporate and professional customers. Exclusively available with the Diesel engine, it features the 8.8-inch Alfa Connect 3D Nav, Bi-Xenon headlights with AFS and electric folding mirrors. Outstanding performance Built in Italy at the Termoli (petrol) and Pratola Serra (Diesel) plants, in areas assigned only to Alfa Romeo engines, with state-of-the-art processes and methods that put them at the top of their class in terms of performance and fuel economy, are the engines housed under the bonnet of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The 280hp 2.0-litre Turbocharged petrol and the 210hp 2.2-litre Diesel engines are combined with an automatic 8-speed transmission and Q4 all-wheel drive. The new 2.0-litre Turbocharged petrol engine, offering 280hp, is a 4-cylinder unit built entirely of aluminium with carbon drive shaft, combined with the automatic 8-speed transmission and Q4 all-wheel drive. In addition to electro-hydraulic valve actuation, the distinctive features of this engine include "2-in-1" turbo and 200-bar high-pressure direct injection which pair up to deliver a full-throttle response across the rev range in addition to first-class fuel-efficiency. This results in a peak torque of 400Nm at 2,250 rpm and offers best in class acceleration, going from zero to 62mph in just 5.7 seconds and onto a top speed of 143mph. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio will also be available with a 2.2-litre Diesel engine – available with two power outputs: 210hp at launch and 180hp following shortly after. It is the first Diesel engine in Alfa Romeo's history to be constructed entirely in aluminium. This in-line four cylinders engine features the latest-generation injection system with Injection Rate Shaping (IRS) and operating pressures of 2,000-bar. The electrically-operated variable geometry turbocharger offers state-of-the-art mechanics and a turbocharger speed sensor to minimises response times and improves efficiency. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio 210hp 2.2-litre Diesel reaches a top speed of 133mph and accelerates from zero to 62mph in 6.6 seconds. Both Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV engines are teamed with the ZF automatic 8-speed transmission, specifically calibrated for fast, smooth gear shifts.  The automatic transmission work with the Alfa D.N.A selector to optimise fluidity, comfort and ease of driving in all environments and helps to further improve fuel economy and CO2emissions. Steering-column-mounted, aluminium paddle shifters are also available. Exciting handling Inspired by Italy’s highest mountain pass – an epic 20 kilometre driving route with more than 75 hairpins – the Alfa Romeo Stelvio has been built to offer an engaging driving experience while still maintaining the driver’s comfort. The new SUV boasts handling worthy of a sports car with exclusive AlfalinkTM technology – the most direct steering ratio in the segment and state-of-the-art suspension. Combined with ultra-lightweight, hi-tech materials, such as carbon fibre for the drive shaft and aluminium for the engines, suspension systems, hood, wings, doors and the tailgate, the car can boast sector leading handling and the Alfa Romeo Q4 all-wheel drive system. Driving comfort has been optimised though the perfect weight distribution between the two axles – a distinctive feature of Alfa Romeo’s. Managing the weights and materials, including adjusting the car's layout by placing the heaviest units in the most central positions, have helped achieve this 50/50 weight distribution. Light-weight materials reduce the SUV's total weight and provide excellent torsional rigidity, a quiet ride and exceptional handling even in extreme conditions. A new double wishbone suspension with a semi-virtual steering axis, optimising the filtering effect and guaranteeing rapid, accurate steering, was developed for the front suspension. The rear suspension uses a four-and-a-half link system – patented by Alfa Romeo – to deliver extremely precise control of the wheel's characteristic angles.  The Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV has the most direct steering ratio in its segment delivering a natural, instinctive feel. Thanks to the Q4 all-wheel drive system, with rear-wheel-drive bias, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is capable of conquering a mountain hairpin, gravel track or snow-covered roads.  Its architecture includes an active transfer case and front differential designed to give rapid-response management of high torque levels and a compact, lightweight set-up. The Q4 system continuously monitors numerous parameters to optimise torque distribution between the two axles according to what the car is doing and how much grip the road surface offers. In normal grip conditions the Alfa Romeo Stelvio acts like a rear-wheel-drive vehicle with 100% of the torque sent to the rear axle. As the wheels approach their grip limit the system transfers up to 50 per cent of the torque to the front axle. This translates into best-in-class control in terms of traction and directional stability on corners. An optional mechanical self-locking rear differential transfers more torque to the wheel with most grip to optimise the car’s traction in any driving conditions. Alfa Romeo sporty design The history of Alfa Romeo is evident in the striking, yet simple, design of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Three key Ingredients of Alfa Romeo design are visible in the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio’s exterior: proportion, simplicity and top-quality surfacing. From the legendary cloverleaf at the front end, its compact proportions develop towards the rear and end on a steeply raked rear hatch. Finished with a spoiler, for maximum aerodynamic performance, and two exhaust tips that bring this sporty rear to life. Inside the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the same sporty elegant imprint is apparent: simple, stylish and tailored like a bespoke suit. Hours of painstaking craftsmanship means the car is jam-packed full of premium materials including full-grain leather, real wood and fabrics carefully chosen for their look and feel. On-board comfort and wellbeing for driver and passenger Despite a real focus on styling – both inside and out – the practical layout of the car means the driver is central to everything. This is underlined by the diagonal tunnel, the slightly undulating dashboard and the small leather-wrapped steering wheel that adapts effectively to all driving styles. The driving position and high seat gives complete command of the road, without compromising on the driving pleasure expected of a genuine Alfa Romeo sports car. The feeling of total control is reinforced by the large windows and the wraparound seats give an even sportier, cossetted driving experience. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio guarantees the very best in terms of comfort and versatility in this sector. The 525-litre boot features a convenient electric tailgate that can be configured with eight different setup levels for optimal boot access. Alfa Connect Infotainment system. Alfa Romeo Stelvio is equipped with the Alfa Connect system – developed in partnership with Magneti Marelli – with the latest-generation HMI interface, which is controlled from the Rotary Pad and the display incorporated in the dashboard. The latest-generation infotainment system not only controls the DAB digital radio but also provides a Bluetooth system for hands-free communication and playing audio from USB and smartphones devices. The entire range is supplied as standard with an 8.8" display with optional Connect 3D Nav 8.8” which supplies navigation with high-resolution 3D maps and high-speed route calculation. The system is also available without a GPS signal thanks to the Dead Reckoning technology, TomTom map updating from the USB port, driving style information and Alfa D.N.A. mode. A sophisticated audio system featuring eight speakers (four woofers and four tweeters) is standard across the range. 10 speakers (four woofers, four tweeters, a mid-range and a subwoofer in the boot), and a 14 speaker Harman Kardon system (four woofers, four tweeters, five mid-ranges and a subwoofer) are also optionally available. Alfa D.N.A Alfa Romeo Stelvio features the new Alfa D.N.A selector, which allows the driver to modify the car's dynamic behaviour with three modes: Dynamic, Natural and Advanced Efficiency (new energy-saving mode). Dynamic mode accentuates performance and reactive handling. The steering response becomes more precise, braking is more immediate and the electronic control systems do not interfere with the pleasure of sports-style driving. Natural mode is ideal for urban and motorway driving; handling is tailored for comfort and fuel economy. And finally, the new Advanced Efficiency maximises energy saving and minimises emissions levels. Unbeatable safety and innovative engineering The new Alfa Romeo SUV is the world's first car in its segment to offer the new electromechanical system that combines stability control with a traditional servo brake. With its combination of electronics and mechanics, this system not only cuts weights, gives an excellent driving "feel" and eliminates pedal vibration but also guarantees instant brake response, meaning a much shorter braking distance. A whole host of safety systems are standard on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio including Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross-Path Detection and Active Cruise Control. UK pricing and specification will be confirmed closer to sale start. To find out more about on the Alfa Romeo range, contact us today.

DACIA SANDERO RETAINS CROWN AT WHAT CAR? AWARDS FOR FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

The Dacia Sandero has been awarded ‘Best Small Car for less than £12,000’ for the fifth consecutive year by What Car? at an awards ceremony in London. The Sandero first picked up the award in 2013, following Dacia’s entrance into the UK car market, and again in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Having undergone a series of recent updates for the 2017 Model Year, the supermini has taken the honours once more, underlining its ability to provide a class leading mix of practicality, comfort and low running costs. Its shockingly affordable £5,995 price tag is just half the amount of the category it competes in. Commenting on the decision to give the award to the Sandero for the fifth time, Steve Huntingford, Editor, What Car?, said: “You won’t find this much space for so little in any other new car. A recent facelift brought an updated, higher quality interior. The Sandero also feels better to drive: the handling is tidy enough and the ride is surprisingly comfy for such a cheap car. You can buy a Sandero for less than £6,000, but we recommend spending a little more to get mid-range Ambiance trim. This adds niceties such as air-conditioning, central locking, electric front windows, a DAB radio and Bluetooth. It also replaces the standard black plastic bumpers with body-coloured ones that look a lot smarter. At this price point, only the Ford Ka+ comes close, and although that’s better to drive, the Sandero is more practical and a fair bit cheaper.” Commenting on the result, Louise O’Sullivan, Head of Dacia UK said: “We’re delighted that the Sandero has been recognised by the judges at What Car? for a fifth consecutive year. The New Sandero offers customers even more value for money with upgrades to the interior and exterior as well as enhanced level of equipment while remaining the most affordable new car in the UK.” The Dacia Sandero is a five-door hatchback, available in three trim levels with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. Pricing starts from £5,995, making it the lowest priced new car on sale in the UK today. The new interior and exterior upgrades for 2017 provide a more elegant and contemporary finish whilst providing the customer additional value and practicality. The specific Ambiance version chosen by What Car? now comes with more features as standard such as air conditioning and DAB radio – it is the most affordable car on sale in the UK with air conditioning as standard. This is in addition to Bluetooth connectivity, electric windows and remote central locking. The new SCe 75 1.0-litre engine produces the same power as the outgoing 1.2-litre but delivers up to 10 per cent more efficiency. The Dacia brand continues to go from strength to strength with 26,499 new Dacia vehicles sold during 2016, it’s best-ever year of sales in the UK. For more information on the New Sandero, as well as the rest of Dacia’s award-winning range, please call King's Lynn (01553) 772644 or Bedford (01234) 354257.

ALFA ROMEO GIULIA NAMED ‘SAFEST NEW CAR’ AT CARBUYER ‘BEST CARS’ AWARDS

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia has been named ‘Safest New Car’ in the Carbuyer ‘Best Cars’ Awards, adding to the large collection of international prizes already won by the new sports car. Presented by Carbuyer editor Stuart Milne at an awards event in London, the ‘Safest New Car’ title came following deliberation from Carbuyer’s team of motoring experts, after safety was found to be one of the website’s readers’ most popular searches. “The Alfa Romeo Giulia is the long-awaited replacement for the 159 saloon, and with good looks, impressive engines and plenty of interior space, it’s certainly been worth the wait,” says Stuart Milne. “It also scored top marks this year in the Euro NCAP crash tests. It achieved a remarkable 98 per cent score for adult occupant protection, beating cars like the Mercedes E-Class and Volkswagen Tiguan. “Testers praised the Giulia’s structural integrity and the ability of the Autonomous Emergency Braking system to work at higher speeds. With that hugely impressive adult occupant protection score, we've named it our Safest New Car.” Created by the Alfa Romeo Style Centre, the exciting Giulia is a new expression of the best Italian tradition that combines harmonic proportions, linearity of style, high quality materials and sophisticated aluminium, wood and leather accents. All these are embellished with iconic elements originating in the brand's over 100-year history, the most significant of which is the trefoil, arguably the most famous emblem of Alfa Romeo design. “Safety is of paramount importance to us at Alfa Romeo, just as it is to our customers, so I am particularly delighted that the experts at Carbuyer have voted the Giulia as their safest car,” says Damien Dally, head of brand, Alfa Romeo UK. “It’s just one more excellent feature of a car that people already love for its looks, style and awesome performance.”

THE RENAULT TREZOR VOTED MOST BEAUTIFUL CONCEPT CAR OF 2016

The 32nd Festival Automobile International at the Hôtel des Invalides in Paris, France, has singled out the Renault TreZor as the Most Beautiful Concept Car of 2016. “I would like to thank the jury for this award which inspires us to continue to pursue our design strategy,” says Laurens van den Acker, SVP Corporate Design, Renault. “The TreZor’s powerful, sensuous lines pave the way for the styling and technologies that will be features of our upcoming models. It also marks the beginning of a new cycle of Renault concept cars.” “The jury decided this award should go to the TreZor because of the extreme beauty, sensuality and elegance it exudes,” observes Rémi Depoix, President of the Festival Automobile International. “It is the epitome of a concept car and we were notably won over by the cohesion of its overall design and the attention that has been paid to the details. It is a fine creative work which, we hope, will inspire Renault’s future roadgoing models.” A POINTER TO THE STYLING PHILOSOPHY OF UPCOMING RENAULTS The lines of the Renault TreZor are warm, sensuous and refined, while its assertive front end incorporates signature C-shaped lights. NEW CITROËN C3 & GRAND C4 PICASSO TAKE DOUBLE WIN IN CONTRACT HIRE AND LEASING.COM AWARDS 2016/2017

New Citroën C3 has scooped the award for Supermini of the Year, and Grand C4 Picasso has eclipsed its rivals to take the MPV of the Year prize in the Contract Hire and Leasing.com Awards 2016/17. The awards judges highlighted New C3’s “reassuring” running costs and “engaging handling” and described Grand C4 Picasso as simply “one of best MPVs available today”. New Citroën C3 has fought off some exceptionally strong B-segment competition to win Best Supermini in the Contract Hire and Leasing.com Car of the Year Awards 2016/2017, with New Citroën Grand C4 Picasso also sweeping the competition aside to take the Best MPV title.  The Contract Hire and Leasing.com judges said; “Reassuring running costs, engaging handling, distinctive looks, and a wide variety of personalisation options make the C3 a fun lease.” The judges continued; “With the same styling cues of the C4 Cactus, it gets a much more inspired look than its forebear. But those individualistic air bumps aren’t the only reason it wins our supermini of the year award. The C3’s update extends well beyond the bodywork, thanks to an interior that features possibly the comfiest seats ever to grace a small car. Its four doors and 300-litre boot means practicality is just as high on the priority list as comfort. too.” Citroën’s fun New C3 includes the world’s first fully integrated dashcam, ConnectedCAM Citroën™. The forward facing camera, positioned just behind the rear-view mirror, adds both fun and function to the car. The driver can take pictures in complete safety, and record or share video via their social media channels. The camera can also record vital “before and after” footage in the event of an accident. In addition, New C3’s range of efficient PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel engines all feature low emissions and low fuel consumption, contributing to low overall running costs. The Grand C4 Picasso is no stranger to awards ceremonies, its strengths as a stylish and spacious MPV having earned it a long list of awards since it was originally launched in 2014. The Contract Hire and Leasing.com judges praised New Grand C4 Picasso, describing Citroën’s family seven-seater as; “One of the best MPVs available today, the Grand C4 Picasso majors on style.” They went on to say; “In the British lexicon, the name Picasso is now probably more associated with MPVs than it is with surrealist paintings, and the updated Grand C4 Picasso ensures this trend continues. This behemoth seven-seater gets a flexibility that makes it the perfect family load-lugger. Huge infotainment and driver info screens now dominate the dashboard, which along with the spaceship looks give the Grand Picasso a futuristic flavour. Some people carriers can be rather drab, but not this one. The Grand Picasso doesn’t try and apologise for what it is, and that’s why it’s a winner.” Available since 3 January 2017, New Citroën C3 has already started racking up awards, having been honoured with the “Best Urbanite” title in BBC TopGear Magazine’s ‘Best Cars in the World’ issue. The Best MPV award from Contract Hire and Leasing.com is the second award that New Grand C4 Picasso has earned already for 2017, following the Best Seven-Seater prize in the Carbuyer Best Car Awards. THE BEST IBIZA EVER

The New SEAT Ibiza is already here loaded with the latest technology features, outstanding dynamics, and an impressive improvement in interior space and comfort. The Spanish brand’s most important model has all-new styling while preserving the same youthful, functional, sporty and comfortable spirit as always. And it does so with a fresh design that reflects the latest SEAT distinctive character by continuing with the brand’s DNA but with an edgier, sportier design, featuring more sculpted, accentuated, exciting and streamlined surfaces. The fifth generation of the SEAT Ibiza will make its public debut at the next Geneva Auto Show and go on sale in June 2017. The new SEAT Ibiza, then, is a completely new model that was created with very ambitious goals in mind: To go a major step ahead in safety, design, performance and comfort. This huge advance in quality was achieved thanks to the new MQB A0 modular platform. The new SEAT Ibiza is the Volkswagen Group first model to use this platform, highlighting SEAT’s importance within the Group and offering countless advantages.    Launched in 1984 for the first time, the Ibiza has become an icon of SEAT. This car has been around the longest in the history of the brand and is its top-selling model, with over 5.4 million units sold. The Ibiza is one of the three pillars of the company, together with the Leon and Ateca, on which SEAT relies to continue building the success of the company in the future. More compact, roomier, more efficientThe new SEAT Ibiza has impressively increased its interior roominess, it is a lot more robust, and also, a lot safer. It is much wider by a stunning 87 mm, it is two mm shorter  and one lower than the previous model, but more than anything, the change in its dimensions conveys a powerful image of a car that hugs the ground. And the key is in the new MQB A0 platform. The wheeltrack is 60 mm wider at the front axle and 48 at the rear axle, while the distance between the axles is 2,564 millimetres, a 95-mm increase. The result is a much more comfortable car, with the new SEAT Ibiza being both roomier on the inside and larger on the outside. For example, leg room in the back seats has increased by 35 mm, while the head room has gone up by 24 mm in the front seats and 17 mm in the back. The seats are an astonishing 42 mm wider, making the new SEAT Ibiza one of the best in its class in this area. The boot has also been enlarged by 63 litres, bringing its total capacity to 355 litres, making it best in class. The loading height has also been lowered, proof that SEAT knows how to combine design and functionality. All of the engines available on the new SEAT Ibiza comply with the Euro6 emissions regulation and lead the way in performance, with outstanding features, high mileage and low emissions. There are three aluminium block and cylinder petrol engines to choose from. The first option is the 3 cylinder 1.0 TSI with 95 or 115 PS, along with a turbocompressor, intercooler and direct injection. A new 1.5 TSI will be available in late 2017 with four cylinders and 150 PS. Efficient 1.6 TDI diesel engines will come in 80, 95 and 115 PS varieties. Finally, the new MQB A0 platform allows the New Ibiza to offer a compressed-natural gas (CNG) powered 90-PS 1.0 TSI engine. SEAT is the first maker to offer an engine of this type in this class. The gearboxes available are a manual 5-speed transmission for the 95-PS and lower engines and a 6-speed transmission for the more powerful engines. The dual-clutch DSG 7-speed gearbox is another of the options available on the new SEAT Ibiza. The car’s dynamic behaviour, ride quality and driving comfort are exceptional thanks to the new MQB A0 platform, as well as to the 30% higher torsional stiffness. The new SEAT Ibiza is only available in a 5-door option, which is now more functional and the new design offers the sportier look of a 3-door model. There have also been qualitative leaps forward in terms of noise control, vibrations and ride harshness. The new SEAT Ibiza offers the quality of a more luxurious automobile. It’s also agile in the city, efficient on curved roads and offers excellent comfort on long trips. Four trim packages and the most advanced technologyThe new SEAT Ibiza will offer four equipment lines, starting with the Reference followed by the Style trim. The top-of-the-range will be the FR and XCellence trims. The FR trim comes with the most dynamic and technological equipment to enjoy the best performance. Exclusive dynamic design elements have been specifically created for it like, rear diffuser, exclusive front bumper, sport suspension and exclusive exterior black pack. The XCellence trim aims at reaching new customers looking for a more sophisticated and distinctive design combined with more convenient and smart functional equipment. Both trims will have the same price and are intended to offer the best possible options to different types of drivers: FR is for those looking for a sportier car, while XCellence focuses on comfort, elegance and technology. The interior ambient LED lighting for the FR and XCellence versions is offered in two colours, red and white. The use of LED technology for the interior and exterior lights is not an aesthetic whim. LEDs offer much higher quality lighting while saving energy, thus yielding improved fuel economy. The full LED lights on the Ibiza (headlights, dashboard, indicators and rear fog lights) are new in this class. The FR trim includes a stiffer suspension and offers two mode settings, Normal and Sport, to adapt to the driver’s preferences or to the conditions on the road. The XCellence trim will also offer this possibility later on, with a softer setting. The driving assistance systems built into the new Ibiza include elements that, while already present in Leon and Ateca, are quite unusual in this class. The new SEAT Ibiza features Front Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Keyless Entry System with heartbeat engine start button, a new generation of front and rear parking sensors and a rear view camera with a higher quality and precision reflected in a premium 8’’ touchscreen with glass panel. Is the very first time that the SEAT Ibiza has a huge and functional integrated 8’’ touchscreen that offers the best technology without compromising  the interior harmony. In the interior, one of the most outstanding features of the new model is the wireless charger with GSM amplifier. In terms of connectivity, the New SEAT Ibiza is the only car 100% connected thanks to three options:  Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Mirror Link.  SEAT is committed to becoming a front runner in connected cars and developing new mobility solutions where the connected car enhances user experience, making it easier and more flexible. In an environment of disruptive changes, SEAT is eager to deal with the challenges posed by urban infrastructures, traffic systems and vehicles in cities, offering these technologies in most of its vehicles. The New SEAT Ibiza presents a partnership with Beatsaudio soundsystem, a brand bringing energy, emotion and excitement that has changed the way people listen to music. It uses a digital signal processor (DSP), 7 premium speakers and an 8-channel with 300W amplifier.    MQB A0 PlatformThe latest technology from the Volkswagen Group, the MQB platform - Modular Quer Baukasten -, allows higher manufacturing flexibility and robust implementation, as it supports different models and allows for different body types within the same segment and different wheelbase configurations can be achieved within the same base platform. SEAT’s investments and R&D expenditure in recent years were partially allocated to adapt Line 1 at the Martorell factory to the new MQB A0 platform, allowing SEAT to be the first company of the Volkswagen group to use this technology. The number of parts using Hot-Forming technology has been increased, and that contributes to reduce weight and to increase rigidity, therefore improving performance and accounting for lower consumption. In particular for the new Ibiza, 900 robots and more than 4000 welding points guarantee the robustness of the vehicle. Spot welding combined with laser technology bring components together with a great result: A lightweight body with extreme structural stiffness.Design: the next step in SEAT’s DNAThanks to more than three decades of history and its importance as the main pillar in the SEAT brand, the 5th generation of the Ibiza has been a total challenge in terms of design. It had to be fresh and young, and yet mature and balanced too.  And this is how the new SEAT Ibiza stands out straight away; its perfect proportions, strong character and agile look. Its characteristic SEAT brushstrokes have not just been maintained, but taken to the next level, pushing the evolution of SEAT’s design DNA. You only need a glance to feel what the designer sketched when creating the new car and see that this is the best design SEAT has ever come up with in the A0 category. At the front of the car, the triangular Full LED headlights and the iconic daylight graphics make the new SEAT instantly recognisable. The badge is not only displayed proudly on the grille, but is also enhanced by the two characteristic lines on the bonnet, with a slight gap in the chrome frame. The x-shaped design gives great dynamism and incredible visual stability. The front and rear overhangs are very short, with the four wheels situated on the four corners of the car, making the car stable, dynamic and sporty.  The longer wheelbase and window graphics accentuate the size of the new Ibiza, while the double blisters down the length of the car are typically SEAT, giving the car a more expressive, three-dimensional look. The bodywork has been beautifully sculpted, combining sharp lines and smooth surfaces. Its new wheels, up to 18 inches and with two tones to choose from, give an elegant touch. The rear of the car is also typical of the Ibiza. Its rear lights wrap around the car, interacting with the blisters at the rear, properly proportioned within a unique design and offering fantastic aerodynamic performance. The boot’s strong lines and bumpers make the car appear wide and give the car an almost monolithic look, while the rear reflectors appear to bring the car closer to the ground. The FR trim comes with details that bring out its sporty character, such as the exhaust tips either side of the rear bumper. The XCellence trims receive chrome details that emphasise their sophistication and refinement. In terms of the interior, the same design steps have been followed that are now in the SEAT Leon and Ateca, but this time with a new vision for its design language. More tension, more technical and precise lines and lighter proportions have all been added in order to achieve a more elegant look and a greater level of perceived quality, while new materials have managed to safeguard its youthful and dynamic character. Structurally, a special emphasis has been put on its horizontal proportions in the assembly of its different  functional areas, including the elevated console in the interior to improve ergonomic performance and safety. The aim was to achieve perfect proportions and a greater sense of space and comfort. All of the controls and instruments are situated around the driver in the highest position possible to avoid the driver having to take his or her eyes off the road. Just as with the new Leon and Ateca, the start button is in the same place, to the left of the gearbox. This is also in the highest position possible for ease-of-use. Upon analysing the top quality of each and every detail of the new SEAT Ibiza, one cannot help but think of models in higher categories, from the innumerable personalisation possibilities to the possibility of choosing the colour of the interior LED lighting, without forgetting of course the onboard technology, such as the 8-inch touchscreen and the Full Link connectivity system. The cockpit is protected by an Air Care filter that isolates the occupants from any type of allergens, creating a completely contaminant-free space. Its exciting design, its dynamic behaviour and driving quality, the feeling of incredible stability and reliability on the road, vastly improved interior quality, incredibly safe and easy-to-use technology, roomier interior, all combine to make the new SEAT Ibiza, a really attractive option and of course  at the best price. SEAT is the only company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets cars in Spain. A member of the Volkswagen Group, the multinational has its headquarters in Martorell (Barcelona), exporting more than 80% of its vehicles, and is present in over 75 countries. In 2016, SEAT’s achieved worldwide sales of 410,200 units, the highest result since 2007. SEAT Group employs more than 14,000 professionals at its three production centres – Barcelona, El Prat de Llobregat and Martorell, where it manufactures the highly successful Ibiza and Leon. Additionally, the company produces the Ateca and the Toledo in the Czech Republic, the Alhambra in Portugal and the Mii in Slovakia.  The multinational has a Technical Centre, which operates as a knowledge hub that brings together 1,000 engineers who are focussed on developing innovation for Spain’s largest industrial investor in R&D. SEAT already features the latest connectivity technology in its vehicle range and is currently engaged in the company’s global digitisation process to promote the mobility of the future.

90% OF CAR BUYERS UNAWARE OF NEW ROAD-TAX SYSTEM

Drivers of the lowest-emission petrol and diesel cars could be hit with a hike of £140 a year and those buying a car costing more than £40,000 will be forced to pay a £1,550 levy over the first five years of ownership. Yet the overwhelming majority of motorists don't know the changes are coming. More than 4,000 people took part in our online poll, which asked readers how up to speed they were about the new regime. Just 6% were fully aware of it. The survey also revealed that a mere 8% knew changes are coming – but a massive 86% were totally in the dark. Under the current scheme, scores of different cars are exempt from road tax, or Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). That’s thanks to the fact they emit less than 100 grams per kilometre (g/km) of carbon dioxide (CO2). For cars registered after April, though, only those that produce no CO2 – fully electric and hydrogen cars – will be spared road tax. All other models registered from then will be liable for an annual road-tax bill of £140, regardless of CO2 emissions. While the first year of road tax will still be based on CO2 emissions and range from £10 to £2,000, this fee is almost always absorbed in a car’s on-the-road price – meaning it isn't usually seen as a running cost by consumers. However, cars with a list price of more than £40,000 will also incur an additional £310 levy for the first five years of ownership, bringing their total annual VED bill to £450 during that time. Carbuyer editor Stuart Milne said: "While the changes should provide more reasons for cost-conscious buyers to choose a fully electric vehicle, they remove much of the incentive for buyers to choose low-emission models with a petrol or diesel engine. Remarkably, a 1.0-litre Vauxhall Corsa will attract the same tax bill as a 5.0-litre Ford Mustang once the first year of tax has been paid. "Buyers should also be aware that the list price includes the cost of any options. Choose too many extras and you could unwittingly push your car’s price above £40,000 – that’ll cost you an additional £1,550 over five years." The changes will affect many different models, from small city cars to large hybrid and electric SUVs. Because petrol engines generally emit more CO2 than their diesel counterparts, buyers have been incentivised to buy diesels for some time. In turn, carmakers have focused on driving down the amount of CO2 these cars emit. The new system is also being brought in because while diesel engines emit relatively little CO2, recent research indicates other emissions – including mono nitrogen oxides and particulate matter – are more harmful than was once thought. Petrol engines, while emitting more CO2, tend to be cleaner in this regard. It’s not all bad news, though: drivers who want to drive a petrol car but may have been put off by high tax rates are likely to find their engine of choice becomes more affordable under the new system, as the playing field between diesel and petrol becomes more level. And it'll provide another reason for buyers to consider an all-electric or hydrogen-powered car. April's new scheme won't apply retrospectively, so whichever road-tax system was active when you registered your current car will continue to apply for as long as it's on the road.

Steve Huntingford, What Car? Editor said: “We have no hesitation in singling out the i10 as our winner: it’s cheap to buy and to run, comfy, and easy to drive in town. Huntingford commented: “we recommend top-spec Premium SE trim, which now gets class-leading infotainment on a 7.0 inch touchscreen, sat-nav, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and a DAB radio. You also get climate control, heated seats and a heated steering wheel – all on a city car. The rest of the i10 remains as appealing as ever.” Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK said “Since its launch in 2014, i10 has continually received praise from both industry and buyers alike and has become one of the stalwarts of our range. CELERIO – ‘BEST BUY’ CITY CAR AT WHAT CAR? AWARDS

First launched in the UK two years ago, the Suzuki Celerio has been awarded a ‘Best Buy’ accolade at the 2017 What Car? Awards held in London. At £6,999, the SZ2 model was comprehensively judged by the editorial team and announced as the best overall model in its price bracket of less than £8,000. Readers of What Car? regularly ask the team to assist with advice on their next new car and in the case of needing something small, cheap to buy and run and also easy to drive, Celerio is very high on the list. Commenting at the awards, Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car? said “Nothing else in this class offers so much for so little, just £7000 is enough to land you our lowest price point winner. At that price you’d expect an empty box on wheels, right? Wrong. This entry level SZ2 trim isn’t the plushest, but how about this lot: a height-adjustable driver’s seat and steering wheel, split-folding rear seats, electric front windows, a DAB radio and six airbags? Best of all, you get a sprightly three-cylinder petrol engine that’ll easily whizz you around town, with enough in reserve for 70mph cruising on the motorway.  And it emits just 99g/km of CO2, so is exempt from road tax. Drivers can easily get comfy thanks to lots of seat adjustment, and it’s dead easy to see all the car’s corners when parking. There’s a surprising amount of space for all four passengers, and the boot is bigger than most city cars”. Celerio is proving to be very popular in the UK with more than 16,500 sold since launch and the SZ2 is available from just £79 per month with a PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) agreement from Suzuki Financial Services. The term is 48 months at 5.9 per cent APR and requires a deposit of £1,855 with an optional final payment of £2,228 to keep the car.

The IONIQ has been awarded Best Small Hatch at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2017, beating competition from the Renault Megane and MINI Clubman. The IONIQ received praise from all the COTY judges for its green powertrains, combined with a chassis that delivers a good driving experience and its stylish body design. UK COTY judges said: “IONIQ scores for its choice of three good eco drivetrains and is also decent to drive, with a good ride and refinement.” Paul Hudson “Hyundai has produced a solid model to take on the competitive segment.” Olivia Gauch “It’s an intelligent proposition for its flexible electric technology – and the design is edgy enough to reflect this.” Nargess Banks “Technologically pioneering in terms of the range of powertrains, and the car is stylish and without the compromises offered by other alternative-fuelled vehicles.” Paul Barker “Out-Priuses the Prius with a three-car range in a single swoop. A very impressive first effort.” Nat Barnes “The fact it offers three greener powertrains is a masterstroke. Why has nobody done this before? A great reputation for reliability, decent real-world economy from the petrol engine and looks that are sufficient to make a statement without looking polarising.” Keith Jones “With hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric options, the IONIQ takes on the Toyota Prius (hybrid & plug-in) and Nissan Leaf (EV only) and arguably offers greater attributes than both – from lower prices to better driving and visual appeal.” Guy Bird Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK said “IONIQ has only been available since October yet has already received praise for its eco credentials and also its more mainstream capabilities. The award for Best Small Hatch from the UK COTY judges once again proves that Hyundai is offering exactly what the market wants – eco-friendly vehicles that drive well and look good that are also cost effective to run.” Ioniq – along with 11 other winning cars – will now go forward to a final category to decide the overall UK Car of the Year 2017. The Renault Trafic has made it three years in a row at the What Van? Awards, having previously won the title of ‘Best Medium Van’ for 2015 and 2016, by picking up the ‘Editor’s Choice Award’ at the What Van? Awards 2017 at a ceremony in London this afternoon. Editor, James Dallas bestowed the Trafic with his personal award, praising its innovation in the LCV sector and its clever design. James Dallas, Editor, What Van?, commented: “Bringing excellent engines and clever innovations to market, the Renault Trafic is an outstanding van that has had a huge influence on the crucial mid-sized sector.” Steve Wilson, LCV Product Manager, Renault UK, commented: “We’re delighted that What Van? has yet again recognised Trafic with a very special accolade. The Trafic has a long and successful history in the LCV sector – both in Europe where Renault has been the number one LCV manufacturer for 18 years and in the UK where we surpassed 200,000 Trafic sales in 2016 – and is much loved by every kind of business so it’s fantastic to see Trafic recognised by What Van? for the third consecutive year.” The Renault Trafic is available with four efficient turbodiesel engines, in a choice of three bodystyles – Panel Van, Crew Van, to carry up to six people and equipment; and Passenger, which seats up to nine people in comfort. The Trafic van boasts fuel economy of up to 57.9mpg (NEDC Combined), CO2 emissions as low as 155g/km, and is priced from £20,160 (excluding VAT). The third generation Renault Trafic provides one of the best load capacities on the medium panel van market with clever solutions to make the loading area more practical. Innovative features such as the blind-spot eliminating Wide View Mirror (winner of What Van?’s Innovation Award in 2015), mobile office storage and functionality, a load-through bulkhead offering load lengths of up to 4.15m, touch-screen infotainment, as well as sophisticated stability control, are available. The What Van? Awards are decided by the expert editorial panel of What Van? Magazine, calling on their combined decades of experience in the light commercial vehicle industry. The What Van? Awards seek to reward the best products, companies and services in the industry for their ability to make life easier, cleaner, safer and more efficient for light commercial vehicle operators in the UK. DACIA DUSTER PULLS AWAY FROM ITS RIVALS AT CARBUYER BEST CARS AWARDS 2017

The Dacia Duster has won further acclaim for its robust and rugged design after it was voted the Best Tow Car and Best Winter Car at the Carbuyer Best Cars Awards 2017. The tough Duster scooped the duo of awards after impressing the Carbuyer.co.uk team of motoring experts with its unrivalled value, surefooted driving dynamics, tough construction and user friendliness. Judged with the needs of car buyers in mind, the annual Carbuyer Best Cars Awards take into account a car’s reliability, price, running costs and how easy it is to live with in addition to how well it performs and handles. The award categories reflect the types of vehicles proven to be the most in-demand by Carbuyer’s readers and follow the straight-talking, jargon-free approach that has made it one of the most respected car review websites in the country. In the course of providing motorists with the very best information and determining the winners of its awards, the Carbuyer team tests more than 500 cars a year. It’s not the first time the Dacia has been praised by the Carbuyer judges. Since the awards were established in 2011, it has twice been judged the best small SUV available. Having undergone a facelift earlier this year, the Duster’s popularity among the British public shows no signs of slowing either. Stuart Milne, Editor, Carbuyer, said: "The Dacia Duster is small, rugged and easy to drive, all of which are perfect attributes if you're driving a car throughout the winter. Choose a four-wheel drive version, and you'll have a car with remarkable grip that'll make short work of the toughest wintery conditions, with little impact on day to day running costs." Louise O’Sullivan, Head of Dacia UK, said: “These awards perfectly illustrate the robust, rugged nature of the Duster, underlining its ability to easily cope with demanding driving conditions and usage. “We’re delighted that these accolades add to the Duster’s ever-growing trophy cabinet and that its no nonsense approach to motoring and fantastic value continue to hit the spot with the automotive press and public alike.”  The multiple award-winning Duster starts from just £9,495, making it the most affordable SUV on the UK market. The Duster is available in a choice of four trim levels, with 1.6-litre naturally aspirated (SCe 115) or 1.2-litre turbo charged petrol (TCe 125) or 1.5-litre turbodiesel (dCi 110) engines and in 4x2 or 4x4 set-ups.  A six-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) automatic gearbox is also available and despite its sophistication compared to rival systems is the most affordable automatic crossover on sale. Dacia has been a real success story in the UK since its launch in 2013 finding over 90,000 customers thanks to the brand’s clear value for money and no-nonsense approach. Duster, the tough crossover, has struck a particular chord with Britons having seen 6,503 sales in the first 10 months of the year alone – up 20 per cent on the same period last year.

JEEP RENEGADE IS ONCE AGAIN CROWNED ‘4X4 OF THE YEAR’

The hugely popular Jeep Renegade has been named 4x4 Magazine’s ‘4x4 of the Year 2017’, retaining the crown for the second year in a row. Rapidly growing in popularity on the UK’s roads, and hugely capable off them, the Jeep Renegade has had an excellent year of sales. To date, more than 16,500 two- and four-wheel-drive Renegades have been sold in this country while, in the UK and around the world, the successful B-segment SUV has continued to scoop numerous awards. In this latest recognition, the off-road driving publication’s panel of expert judges was unable to find a contender capable of taking away the Jeep Renegade’s ‘4x4 of the Year’ crown. Excellent on-road, the range-topping Trailhawk version also outshone rivals on 4x4 Magazine’s tough off-road evaluation course. “Since winning last year, we are now seeing many more Renegades on the roads here in the UK and in Europe,” says Nigel Fryatt, Editor, 4x4 Magazine. “Admittedly, not all of them are Trailhawk versions, and some are front-wheel drive, yet that merely underlines the importance of this small SUV. “The Renegade range is comprehensive and every owner is getting a well built, well equipped and surprisingly spacious small SUV. Those that choose four-wheel drive options get a lot more, with the Trailhawk version the absolute master.” In the same awards, the Renegade won the ‘Mid-range SUV’ category, the legendary Jeep Wrangler took the ‘Hardcore’ class for the fifth consecutive year, and the Jeep Cherokee won the ‘Top-Range SUV’ group. “This has been another very good year for Jeep and for Renegade, rounded off nicely with the top award from a leading 4x4 magazine,” says Damien Dally, head of brand, Jeep UK. “Growing sales, continual good reports from the media and thousands of happy customers tell us that Jeep has a winning product in Renegade. And the verdict of expert panellists, such as those at 4x4 Magazine, confirms that view. I am delighted that Renegade has been crowned ‘4x4 of the Year’ for the second year running." The Jeep Renegade range starts at £18,195 OTR for the 1.6E-TorQ 110hp Sport, rising to £29,495 for the 2.0 MultiJet II Trailhawk.

HYUNDAI IONIQ ELECTRIFIES AT THE NEXT GREEN CAR AWARDS

The new Hyundai IONIQ has been hailed as Next Green Car’s Car of the Year 2016. Next Green Car’s judges also awarded IONIQ Electric with the top spot in Small Family category, against the Renault Megane, Fiat Tipo and Volvo V40. The judges praised IONIQ’s capabilities as an all round family car, as well as its recognised eco credentials as a zero emission electric vehicle. The Next Green Car judge’s explained the verdicts "It's tough to find any weaknesses with the Hyundai IONIQ Electric. Plenty of range-stretching features help make the IONIQ Electric an easy EV to drive over long distances, while the company has also packed in plenty of performance, practicality, and value for money into the package.” Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO Hyundai Motor UK, said “We are very pleased to receive both of these awards from Next Green Car. It is particularly satisfying to hear the judge’s verdicts commending IONIQ Electric for its all round abilities, as it underlines what we already know; that for our customers, the complete vehicle package is just as important as IONIQ’s zero emission performance.” Hyundai’s IONIQ Hybrid and Electric went on sale at the end of October and since then almost 300 cars have been delivered. Both models will be joined in Hyundai showrooms by IONIQ Plug-in, which begins sales in Q2 2017. The IONIQ range is part of Hyundai Motor Group’s overall plan of launching 28 eco-friendly cars by 2020.

SEAT ATECA NAMED “BEST FOR MODERN FAMILIES” IN TOP GEAR MAGAZINE’S ‘BEST CARS IN THE WORLD’ ISSUE

Judging by the latest issue of Top Gear magazine, the stylish SEAT Ateca, the brand’s first foray into SUV territory, seems to be as adept at attracting plaudits, as it does British customers. Picking up from its first UK award win only a few weeks ago with Auto Express, the SEAT Ateca is now revelling in the glory of being named the “Best for Modern Families” car in the Top Gear Best ‘Cars in the World’ issue. Facing up to stiff competition in an already crowded marketplace, the Ateca provides drivers with the practicality, and value and necessary for a family SUV, while combining the Barcelona-based brand’s impeccable sense of style.  While space is a key feature for families with children, so are driver assistance and infotainment options – anything that can make life that little bit easier. The Ateca, which Top Gear has judged to be the best car for modern families, combines both. Notable features include the wireless phone charger, Full Link technology for seamless smartphone connectivity, a 360-degree parking camera and a Virtual Pedal, which allows the boot to be opened, and closed, hands-free simply by waggling a foot underneath the rear bumper. Charlie Turner, Editor of Top Gear magazine, said, “Families require practicality and safety but we cannot forget style, and the Ateca ticks all the boxes. Great dynamics, strong construction and a comprehensive range of driver-assist and connectivity options make the Ateca a great choice for the modern family.” Commenting on the win, Richard Harrison, Director, SEAT UK, said, “This is fantastic news for our new SEAT Ateca and adds to the great momentum that it has been developing even before its launch in this country. The award is testament to what an enticing all-round package it is for families, as a desirable, high-tech, stylish and well-built SUV.” Top Gear is Britain’s best-selling car magazine and its ‘Best Cars in the World’ issue will be fully available on 30 November 2017.

Jeep Renegade’s successful partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures and this year’s blockbuster movie: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, has resulted in top awards for the 4x4 brand from two different industries. First Jeep collected the Winner of Digital Experience accolade at the recent Events Awards 2016 at the Eventim Apollo, London. Then the SUV brand followed up with the Winner, Most Effective Integration/Amplification title at the Brand Experience Awards, held at London’s Troxy. Both awards come as a result of this year’s fruitful partnership between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Warner Bros. – who worked together to develop and create not only the co-branded experience around the Batman v Superman film but also the Jeep Renegade Dawn of Justice Special Edition, offering unique features such as a Batman v Superman badge. Just 500 examples of the Jeep Renegade Dawn of Justice Special Edition were made available, with a choice of either the 1.6-litre E-torQ 110hp petrol, or 1.6-litre MultiJet II 120hp diesel engine. Both the industry awards recognised Jeep’s Battle of the Renegades campaign – an interactive film and digital lead generation platform from Initials Marketing social and digital creative agency – which leveraged Jeep’s partnership on the film. “It’s been a great year for Jeep Renegade already and one of the highlights of 2016 was the Battle of the Renegades campaign,” says Damien Dally, head of brand, Jeep UK. “As part of a hugely successful movie, it put Jeep in front of a whole new audience who we thought would be interested in learning more about Renegade. It did that – and also caught the imagination of two important awards juries, for which I am delighted.”

Suzuki Motor Corporation unveiled the new IGNIS for Europe at the 2016 Paris Motor Show as its new global compact crossover and it clearly demonstrates convenience and comfort in a stylish new exterior. It exudes Suzuki DNA from every pore, while at the same time introducing an entirely new design with unique character. In addition to its stylish exterior design in a compact size of just 3,700mm long, the IGNIS  features excellent visibility, a spacious cabin and ample luggage space. The development goal was to create compact crossover styling that is undoubtedly Suzuki. Under the ‘SUZUKI NEXT 100’ plan announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015, Suzuki  developed a new platform strategy for its future models and the IGNIS is the second model (following Baleno) with this new generation platform to be introduced in Europe. This new platform targets the reduction of weight as well as further increased rigidity and the lightest IGNIS model has a kerb weight of just 810kg. Exterior design The impressive shape of the IGNIS body begins with the distinctive front face that integrates the striking gaze of the LED headlamps and the strong lines of the front grille. It continues with the robust shoulders that suggest strength whilst utilising a simple design that at the same time presents a familiar, lovable expression. It also inherits the first-generation Cervo’s (SC100 Whizzkid ) slit-like ‘C’pillar design cues and also the Swift’s distinctive blacked out ‘A’ and ‘B’ pillar design. Interior design In addition to its simple yet unique design, the characteristic image of the IGNIS is further enhanced by its interior ambience. The round shape of its air-conditioning system’s panel and the advanced feel of its distinctive instrument cluster design combine to give the cabin environment a futuristic look. Depending on the choice of exterior colour, orange and metallic titanium accent colours add an extra touch of quality to the cabin and help establish an active image that befits a crossover. Capacity Adopting Suzuki’s new generation platform strategy minimised the size of the engine compartment which has enabled maximising the space available for cabin occupants and luggage. Within its compact body size, IGNIS features a roomy and comfortable cabin with ample space between occupants, ample headroom and legroom contributing to its relaxing environment. Another feature is large-capacity luggage space of 267L (SZ3), (204L for ALLGRIP model utilising a rear differential). It also adopts sliding rear seat functionality that, combined with the ability to fold down the rear seatbacks, makes it possible to accommodate a wide variety of luggage. Specification Highlights Standard equipment for all Ignis models in the range is comprehensive and the SZ3 model includes six airbags, air conditioning, DAB radio with Bluetooth, 15-inch wheels, body coloured door mirrors, front electric windows and five seat capacity.  SZ-T adds satellite navigation, rear view camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, wheel arch extensions and four seat capacity with individually sliding rear seats. SZ5 adds auto air conditioning, Dual Camera Brake Support, keyless entry and start, rear electric windows, LED Headlghts with DRL and front foglamps. IGNIS is available in one solid colour, five optional metallic colours and five two tone colours whereby the roof colour on all is Super Pearl Black Metallic.   Suzuki first introduced its 1.2-litre Dualjet technlogy (K12C) in 2014, initially in the Swift, and then utilised in the Baleno SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) in June 2016. In summary, Dualjet incorporates Suzuki’s engine technology and uses twin fuel injectors for improved fuel economy. Dualjet design positions the fuel injectors very close to the engine inlet valves which allows for a finer fuel atomisation (or mixture). Available on the SZ5 manual model, the SHVS mild hybrid is a compact and lightweight unit that incorporates an Integrated Starter Generator (known as ISG) which acts as both a generator and starter motor, the ISG is belt driven and assists the engine during vehicle take off and acceleration and also generates electricity through regenerative braking. The SHVS system only uses its conventional engine starter motor when first started from cold, under all other conditions it uses the ISG unit to allow smooth and quiet engine restarts. The energy assistance provided during acceleration enables the SHVS to be known as a mild hybrid system which is ideally suited to a compact car and adds just 6.2kg to the overall weight. In the new IGNIS the SHVS system helps Suzuki reach a top class CO2 emissions figure of 97g/km plus achieve a fuel consumption figure of 65.7mpg on the EC combined cycle for the 2WD model. 4WD (ALLGRIP AUTO) The new IGNIS adopts Suzuki’s ALLGRIP ‘AUTO’ four-wheel drive system and is available on the SZ5 model. First introduced in Swift, this is a well proven and simple fully automatic and permanent four-wheel drive layout which transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when required via a viscous coupling.    Enhancements to the IGNIS ALLGRIP system include Hill Descent Control and Grip Control. Grip Control activates on slippery surfaces at speeds of less than 18mph. Once switched on by the driver, it focuses torque on the driven wheels that have grip and will quickly apply braking to the wheel that is spinning. Safety equipment The IGNIS adopts Suzuki‘s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept that provides a high level of collision safety. Some of the features include collapsible structures that absorb impact energy in the event of a collision, a frame structure that effectively disperses impact energy, and rigid cabin structure. As an additional safety feature on the SZ5 model, Dual Camera Brake Support (DCBS) is fitted which utilises stereo cameras located on each side of the drivers interior rear view mirror. These function in a similar way to the human eye and detect lane markings as well as objects ahead (including pedestrians) and also their distance away. This new feature has enabled the IGNIS SZ5 to be awarded Five Stars in the latest NCAP tests. Convenience The IGNIS SZ3 model has a fixed rear seat and the luggage area has a capacity of 267 litres (VDA) with the rear seat in its upright position. On SZ-T and SZ5 models the two individual rear seats can slide 165mm to provide either greater luggage capacity or more rear passenger leg room; additionally, the seat backrests have a two position recline function. The luggage capacity increases to 514 litres with both rear seats folded and can be as high as 1,100 litres if fully loaded to the roof line.

Citroën Grand C4 Picasso scoops the ‘Best Seven-Seater’ prize in the prestigious Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2017. New Grand C4 Picasso was chosen by the Carbuyer road-test team because of its running costs, comfort, practicality, reliability and safety, as well as its new technologies, value-for-money and optional extras.   New Citroën Grand C4 Picasso has taken the ‘Best Seven-Seater’ prize in the Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2017. The ultra-practical family car was recognised for its superior comfort and innovative technologies, alongside a supremely spacious and versatile interior. Carbuyer announced its Best Cars for 2017 at London’s Curzon Bloomsbury Cinema on Wednesday. The Carbuyer awards celebrate and recognise the very best cars available in the UK. The awards are driven by the popular Carbuyer.co.uk Best Cars section, which includes in-depth analysis on every new car on sale today. Stuart Milne, Editor at Carbuyer, said; “Citroën’s Grand C4 Picasso looks great - but that beauty is more than skin deep. It's such a well thought-out car, with plenty of glass giving a light and airy feel inside. There's plenty of space for seven, and with touches such as three ISOFIX mounting points, it's perfectly designed for family life. It's just as good out on the road, with a wide range of engines as well as a comprehensive range of safety equipment meaning your family will stay safe should the worst happen.” Chris Cheetham, Citroën UK’s Marketing Director, commented; “The awards just keep coming for this great family car and that’s because it really is the best vehicle in its class. Following the ‘Best MPV’ award from Auto Express earlier this year, we are honoured to be able to add the accolade of ‘Carbuyer Best Seven-Seater 2017’ to the list. This award is testament to our design and engineering teams, and is evidence that style doesn’t need to lose out to practicality.”

RENAULT ZOE WINS BEST SUPERMINI AT NEXT GREEN CAR AWARDS 2016

Only weeks after the launch of a new version with the longest available range for a mainstream electric car, the Renault ZOE has underlined its class-leading usability by being voted the Best Supermini at the Next Green Car Awards. Europe’s best-selling electric car was awarded the win after eclipsing the other cars shortlisted in the fiercely-contested category. Next Green Car’s expert judging panel praised the stylish ZOE for its unrivalled range of 250 miles (NEDC) and excellent all-round package. The ZOE was selected for the annual awards through Next Green Car’s unique NGC Rating, which rates the environmental impact of all new cars on the market. It was then judged on a variety of criteria, including capability, suitability for purpose, impact on its sector and value for money. Commenting on their decision to award the Renault ZOE, the Next Green Car judges said: "Renault roots out range anxiety with its new ZOE Z.E.40, offering a long range in an already strong supermini package. Nicely designed and easy to use, the zero-emission ZOE now has more than enough range to persuade even the most anxious driver into an EV." Paul Flanagan, Managing Director, Groupe Renault UK, said: “We’re delighted that Next Green Car has chosen the Renault ZOE as its Best Supermini, its decision reaffirming that the ZOE is not just a superb electric vehicle, but is also a versatile, comfortable and easy-to-own car in its own right, irrespective of how it is powered.” It’s not the first time that the innovative Renault ZOE has triumphed at the Next Green Car Awards. It is a previous winner of the Supermini category and has also won the leading green car website’s prestigious Gold Award. ZOE offers a well-equipped specification, five-door practicality and immense ease-of-use. Perfect around town and further afield, the ZOE’s silent drive, instant torque and zero emissions-in-use make for a highly relaxing and environmentally-friendly driving experience. As standard, the stylish hatchback benefits from such features as cruise control, speed limiter, keycard entry with push button Start/Stop function, automatic climate control and the Renault R-Link multimedia system including satellite navigation. Adding to the ZOE’s user-friendliness is its patented Chameleon™ charger that allows ZOE to always make the best use of whatever charging supply is available in order to speed up charging times. ZOE Dynamique Nav Q90 Z.E.40 Quick Charge can charge at up to 43kW, meaning that 0 to 80 per cent full, of the new enhanced range battery, can be achieved in as little as 65 minutes. For retail customers with a domestic address and off street parking, a 7kW Homecharger will also be fully installed free of charge enabling ZOE to be charged from flat-to-full from just 3-4 hours, depending on specification. Using the My ZE Inter@ctive timer app customers are able to schedule the time that ZOE is charged and benefit from significantly lower off-peak electricity prices, while the car’s numerous innovations include its unique heat pump. This is able to air condition and heat the ZOE more efficiently than a traditional system, meaning the car’s occupants can stay comfortable without worrying about the range. Renault estimates that the recently launched Z.E. 40 battery in ZOE, which enables a 250 mile (NEDC) range, has a real-world range of 186 miles in temperate conditions and 124 miles in extreme cold conditions.  The ZOE is part of Renault’s Z.E. range made up of the Twizy and Kangoo Van Z.E. The ZOE range is priced from £13,995 (including Government PiCG plus monthly battery lease) in a choice of three trim levels, including a new top-of-the-range Signature Nav trim and can be purchased either outright or by leasing the battery.  The ZOE has been selling strongly in the UK with 1,482 examples sold in the first three-quarters of 2016 – a 33 per cent increase on the same period of 2015 – continuing the trend set in Europe where Renault was the best-selling electric vehicle manufacturer in 2015.  Purchases of ZOE represent one in six electric vehicles sold in the UK.  The ZOE is proving popular with the British public having been voted ‘Best Supermini’ in the Auto Express Driver Power Survey 2016 – coming second overall out of 183 models. The ZOE is also a three-time winner of What Car?’s ‘Best Electric Car for less than £20,000’ and a Which? ‘Best Buy’ in 2016. It was most recently awarded Best Electric Car in the Carbuyer Best Cars Awards 2017.

FIAT 500 IS BEST USED SMALL CAR IN TOP INDUSTRY AWARDS

The Fiat 500 continues to scoop top industry accolades, but not just as a new car – as the latest in a long line of awards for the popular city car demonstrates. The multi-award-winning 500, whose UK sales topped a quarter of a million earlier this year, was last night named Used Small Car of the Year in the Car Dealer Used Car Awards 2016, held in London. Already the recipient of an impressive list of trophies, including European Car of the Year in 2008, the Fiat 500 has won several ‘City Car’ industry awards this year alone. And for this latest accolade, the three-year-old used Fiat 500 was praised for its residual value, small number of days to sell and its general desirability with leading data companies such as CAP, Glass’s and Auto Trader. “After extensive number-crunching and hundreds of votes, the Fiat 500 was selected as the best used car in its category,” says James Baggott, CEO, Car Dealer magazine. “The word ‘iconic’ is over-used but it certainly applies in this case and the car is a worthy winner.” “The Fiat 500 has won many accolades, and another from an important title such as Car Dealer is always welcome,” says Sebastiano Fedrigo, head of brand, Fiat UK. “The Fiat 500 has continued to sell well as a new car, but we know it makes a fantastic used choice too – something that Car Dealer’s experts clearly agree with us on.” Available with a choice of five engines: 85hp and 105hp 0.9-litre TwinAir; 69 hp 1.2-litre and 1.2-litre Eco;  and 95hp 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel, the Fiat 500 can be ordered in five different trim levels: Pop, Pop Star, Lounge, S – and now also in the new Fiat 500 Riva special edition. The Fiat 500 range starts at £11,200 OTR for the 500 Pop 1.2 69hp. Separately, Fiat has just been named City Car Manufacturer of the Year in the 2016 GreenFleet Awards, held in Birmingham. Fiat was one of 20 organisations or individuals from the fleet and motor industries to be recognised for its contribution to greener road transport and environmental fleet management.

SUZUKI PICKS UP ANOTHER GREEN APPLE

Award for Celerio from The Green Organisation The Celerio Dualjet has won another accolade at the annual Green Apple Environmental Awards held at the House of Commons on 11th November. The awards, organised by The Green Organisation cover many different industries and the Automotive category is judged by the Midland Group of Motoring Writers. Chairman of the Midland Group, Ian Donaldson comments: “This is the sixth year we have saluted the greenest cars you can buy and, crucially, enjoy owning and driving. Our prize winners are chosen by our 27 members whose words are read across 400 media outlets both in print and online all over the UK and beyond”. Launched in the UK in February 2015, the supermini champion for 2016 is the car that was runner-up last year - in the shape of the petrol powered Suzuki Celerio Dualjet. The Celerio was again up against some strong competition and impressed the judges with one commenting "It is a remarkably driveable and economical city car."     Priced at £8,649, the Celerio with its 1.0-litre Dualjet petrol engine enables it to attain 78.4mpg on the EC Combined fuel consumption cycle and achieve very low CO2 emissions of just 84g/km. As an example, the SZ2 at £6,999 is available for a deposit of £1,912 followed by 48 monthly payments of just £79 and an optional final payment of £2,322 to own the car. The new Alfa Romeo Giulia has been named "Most Beautiful Car"

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia has been named "Most Beautiful Car" in the "Das Goldene Lenkrad" ("Golden Steering Wheel") competition. The award adds to the remarkable collection of international prizes won by the new Alfa Romeo sports car. The Giulia was voted for by readers of Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag, with a panel of 29 automotive experts. Panel members included rally world champions Walter Röhrl and Sébastien Ogier, DTM champion Mattias Ekström and designer Andrea Zagato. It's Bushell vs Whorton-Eales – Brands Hatch finale to decide 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup title

Ant Whorton-Eales (Lichfield) has taken victory in both Renault UK Clio Cup rounds at Silverstone to set up a title showdown with arch rival Mike Bushell (Tunbridge Wells) in the final two races of the season at Kent’s legendary Brands Hatch circuit in two weeks’ time (Sat 1/Sun 2 October). JamSport team driver Whorton-Eales went from fourth on the grid to quickly lead Silverstone’s first race. He stayed in front until the penultimate lap when Team Pyro’s Bushell muscled his way past and went on to cross the line in first place. Officials, though, later handed Whorton-Eales the win and relegated Bushell back to second having deemed his move for the lead had been too robust. Right behind, Pyro’s Josh Price (Redbourn) took a fine third place having shadowed Whorton-Eales and Bushell all the way… Bushell started race two from pole position but Whorton-Eales again quickly moved into first position and this time he proved impossible to overtake. Bushell applied the pressure throughout but had to settle for second position while Ciceley Motorsport’s Max Coates (Scorton) this time took third. Heading to the final two races of the season, to be held on Brands Hatch’s daunting full-length Grand Prix circuit, Bushell leads the standings outright by 14 points from Whorton-Eales and only these two can now be crowned Champion. Significantly, however, when the all-important two-dropped-scores rule is applied, Whorton-Eales moves eight points clear at the top. Whorton-Eales, who has now won nine out of the 16 races held so far this season, commented: “Two wins at Silverstone – JamSport’s home circuit – are the perfect results for us at such an important stage of the season. I was on pole position for both races at Brands last year but saw the title get away from me – I’m determined not to let that happen this time.” Bushell, the 2014 Champion, said: “I felt my move on Ant yesterday was legitimate but the officials ruled otherwise so I was a bit out of options in the second race today – even though I always felt I had overall greater pace than Ant. So on to Brands, my home circuit, where I won the title two years ago. If people think it’s been exciting between us at Silverstone they ain’t seen nothing yet….” Silverstone’s two races saw a number of stellar performances elsewhere throughout the field. In addition to his third place in race two (and pole position for race one) Coates comes away from Northamptonshire circuit assured of the Graduates Cup title for young, first-year drivers – adding his name to the trophy alongside that of 2015 winner and outright Champion Ashley Sutton, now a star in the British Touring Car Championship. Price also showed great speed throughout at Silverstone as did James Colburn (Worthing), returning to the grid for the first time in 18 months with the PP Motorsport team – sixth and eighth place results were his reward. Having suffered a nasty crash in Friday testing, Paul Streather (Hinckley) bounced back in a car loaned to his Finesse Motorsport team with two fine drives through the pack for a pair of ninths.

THE ALL-NEW RENAULT SCÉNIC & GRAND SCÉNIC

Twenty years after inventing the world’s first compact MPV with the Scénic – which has since sold almost five million units and was named European Car of the Year in 1997 – Renault has completely overhauled its offering in the segment with the fourth generation of its iconic model, carrying over the hallmarks of versatility, space, user-friendliness and travelling enjoyment that helped it to become such success story. Unveiled at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show, and based on 2011’s R-Space concept, the All-New Scénic and All-New Grand Scénic receive 20-inch wheels as standard across the range – unique in its segment and aiding its seductive and ground-breaking design.  The five-seat All-New Scénic and the seven-seat All-New Grand Scénic will be available with an 8.7-inch portrait touchscreen which is another segment-first, Multisense technology which enables the driver to alter the driving setup and cabin ambience and One-Touch Folding rear seats – controllable from the boot or dash via the R-Link system – which make it easier and quicker than ever to fold rear seats flat to transport larger items. The All-New Scénic has the biggest storage capacity and boot space in its class. The All-New Scénic employs a number of high-end technologies and safety features drawn from the segment above, many of which are standard across the range such as Automatic Electronic Braking System (AEBS) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) and automatic high/low beam. A range of efficient petrol and diesel engines will be available from launch with an innovative dCi 110 Hybrid Assist version offering CO2 emissions as low as 92g/km.

Renault Sport Formula One Team experienced a character-building Gran Premio Heineken d’Italia at the Autodromo di Monza.

Jolyon Palmer made up a number of positions after a spirited start however contact with Felipe Nasr – for which the Sauber driver was subsequently penalised – led to retirement on safety grounds. Kevin Magnussen also made a strong start and finished in seventeenth position. - Kevin started the race from P21 with new set of Pirelli’s red super soft tyres. He changed to new yellow softs on lap 14 then new super soft tyres on lap 30. - Jolyon started the race in P20 on new soft tyres. After contact with Sauber’s Felipe Nasr at turn two on the first lap, he pitted for a new front wing, safety check and a set of new medium (white) compound tyres at the end of the second lap. He returned to the pits to retire at the end of his seventh lap. Kevin Magnussen, #20, R.S.16-04: Started P21, finished P17 “My start was okay but there were incidents everywhere… I had a better start than the Saubers ahead of me, which meant going around them, then another car on the grid. After that, I was able to build-up the momentum into turn two but had to avoid a spinning car by going on the grass. From then on, it was a quiet race with just a bit of early action with one of the Manors. It’s a shame that we didn’t get a good result today but we still learn more about the car every weekend and this race was no exception.” Jolyon Palmer, #30, R.S.16-02: Started P20, DNF “I had a really good start and made a lot of positions. I was alongside Nasr through turn one with no problem then he decided to run me off the road in turn two. I can’t explain why he did that or imagine what he was thinking. I went as far off the track as I could without risking a spin from the gravel and he still made contact with me. There was no racing room and both our races ended way too early. For me I feel I’m driving better than ever and I’m hopeful that will show in Singapore.” Fred Vasseur, Team Principal “After the promise of Spa, Monza proved to be our toughest challenge of the year. Jolyon made a fantastic start but was robbed of the potential to improve further by the actions of Felipe Nasr, who was punished for the incident. Kevin did what he could in a car which was clearly not suited to Monza. We knew this season would be tough and this weekend was particularly so. The positives are not easily seen on track but rather lie in all the hard work going on behind the scenes in Enstone and Viry and we know that in 2017 we will be far stronger. Our immediate focus is now on Singapore where we should show better performance than here.”

This result highlights Renault's commitment to safety, particularly with the all new SCENIC, which will hit the markets in September 2016. It offers cutting edge technologies and passed the new protocol of 2016 Euro NCAP tests with flying colours. New SCENIC stands out with a 90% score for adult occupant protection, 82% for children and 67% for pedestrians. Top-level passive safety In terms of passive safety — structures and equipment that protect occupants from unavoidable impact — New SCENIC is top-level. New SCENIC takes advantage of a structure consisting of reinforced steel skirts, side members, windscreen pillars and posts. This allows it to protect the lives of occupants inside the safety cell. Among these steels, some are "ultra-high elastic", with each square mm able to resist up to 120kg of pressure. In addition, crumple zone steel located outside the passenger compartment allows for impact to be absorbed, thus protecting the lives of occupants inside the safety cell. New SCENIC is equipped with two curtain airbags for the first and second rows and two thorax airbags in the front. It also has two new-generation chest-level airbags that make use of adaptive technology. Based on sensor information, airbag inflation level is adapted to meet the jig of both driver and passenger.  With New SCENIC's embedded technologies, driving is safe and serene New SCENIC makes use of premium segment features and several types of innovative equipment. It is the only vehicle in the C-MPV segment to offer an emergency braking system with pedestrian detection as standard. To put drivers at ease and warn them in the event of risk, New SCENIC offers: A colour heads-up display   Hands-free parking  Lane departure warning  Lane keeping assist (LKA)   Adaptive cruise control  Fatigue detection warning with trajectory analysis   Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS) with pedestrian detection

Podium finish for Dacia in 2016 Driver Power Dealer After Sales satisfaction survey

Eleven place rise from 13th in 2015 for Dacia in UK’s leading dealer satisfaction surveyDacia ranked ahead of many more established and premium brand   Dacia has been voted number two in the 2016 Auto Express Driver Power Dealer Aftersales Satisfaction survey, proving that you can have incredible value-for-money and an outstanding ownership experience – ahead even of many luxury and premium brands. The ‘shockingly affordable’ brand recorded a score of 93.7 per cent overall satisfaction from customers and rises up eleven places from its 13th ranking in 2015. The brand, known for its value-for-money range, made its debut in the leading dealer survey in 2014 and since then has improved each year. The results in the 2016 Auto Express Driver Power Dealer After Sales Satisfaction survey complement Dacia’s ranking in the publication’s earlier vehicle ownership survey, where it finished in fourth overall, out of 31 marques, with the Logan MCV estate topping the Family Car category.   Brian Walters, Director, Research and Insights at Driver Power said: "Dacia, like its sister brand Renault, improved in all six of the dealer-related attributes, most dramatically in keeping its customers informed on progress and cost of work and the technical knowledge of its workshop employees. Dacia continues to offer the highest rated franchised dealer aftersales experience when it comes to value for money." Mark Crockett, Director of Total Customer Experience, Groupe Renault UK, commented: “Dacia’s vast improvement over last year shows how the brand has really struck a chord with customers by sticking to its core values of no-nonsense motoring, affordability and value for money. It’s gratifying to see that owners are not only happy with their vehicle but also with the service at Dacia dealerships, too. “Dacia’s unrivalled value for money in the UK complements its top quality customer service throughout the car’s lifespan which will continue as the brand grows.” The result is partly attributed to the redefinition of the Groupe Renault UK Services and Quality division in early 2016 to two new departments: Total Customer Experience (TCE) and After Sales. TCE supports a further emphasis on customer experience and performance and demonstrates the brand’s collective commitment to positively driving customer experience throughout the business and its dealer network. The TCE team is now also complemented by a new Customer Journey team in order to deliver the best possible Renault experience to customers, whilst After Sales now has a renewed focus on the commercial operations of parts, accessories, options and services functions. The Dacia brand is no stranger to winning awards with Auto Express Driver Power placing Dacia in its top five best manufacturers for three consecutive years – out of 32 brands featured in the 2016 survey, with customers in particular praising the brand’s reliability. Most recently, Dacia was ranked fourth out of 34 brands for customer satisfaction with a 90 per cent satisfaction score in the 2016 Which? Car survey. Since launching in the UK in just over three years ago, Dacia has won numerous awards, including What Car?’s ‘Best Small Car under £12,000’ for four consecutive years for the Sandero. The Dacia range comprises of the Sandero five-door hatchback, available in three trim levels with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. Pricing starts from £5,995, making it the most affordable new car on sale in the UK today. The Sandero Stepway is the UK’s most affordable crossover – priced from £8,495.  It combines hatchback practicality with SUV looks and is available in two trim levels with a choice of a petrol or diesel engine. The versatile Dacia Logan MCV is available in three trim levels and comes with a choice of three engines, including a diesel option that returns up to 80.7mpg (NEDC combined cycle). The Logan MCV is priced from £6,995 OTR.  The multiple award-winning Duster is the most affordable SUV on the UK market today – priced from £9,495. Duster is available in a choice of three trim levels, with 1.6-litre petrol or 1.5-litre dCi diesel engines and in 4x2 or 4x4 set-ups. In the ten years since relaunching in Europe, Dacia has sold more than four million vehicles in Europe. Over 78,000 Dacia models have been sold in the UK since its launch in January 2013.
