FIAT 500 IS BEST USED SMALL CAR IN TOP INDUSTRY AWARDS

The Fiat 500 continues to scoop top industry accolades, but not just as a new car – as the latest in a long line of awards for the popular city car demonstrates. The multi-award-winning 500, whose UK sales topped a quarter of a million earlier this year, was last night named Used Small Car of the Year in the Car Dealer Used Car Awards 2016, held in London. Already the recipient of an impressive list of trophies, including European Car of the Year in 2008, the Fiat 500 has won several ‘City Car’ industry awards this year alone. And for this latest accolade, the three-year-old used Fiat 500 was praised for its residual value, small number of days to sell and its general desirability with leading data companies such as CAP, Glass’s and Auto Trader. “After extensive number-crunching and hundreds of votes, the Fiat 500 was selected as the best used car in its category,” says James Baggott, CEO, Car Dealer magazine. “The word ‘iconic’ is over-used but it certainly applies in this case and the car is a worthy winner.” “The Fiat 500 has won many accolades, and another from an important title such as Car Dealer is always welcome,” says Sebastiano Fedrigo, head of brand, Fiat UK. “The Fiat 500 has continued to sell well as a new car, but we know it makes a fantastic used choice too – something that Car Dealer’s experts clearly agree with us on.” Available with a choice of five engines: 85hp and 105hp 0.9-litre TwinAir; 69 hp 1.2-litre and 1.2-litre Eco;  and 95hp 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel, the Fiat 500 can be ordered in five different trim levels: Pop, Pop Star, Lounge, S – and now also in the new Fiat 500 Riva special edition. The Fiat 500 range starts at £11,200 OTR for the 500 Pop 1.2 69hp. Separately, Fiat has just been named City Car Manufacturer of the Year in the 2016 GreenFleet Awards, held in Birmingham. Fiat was one of 20 organisations or individuals from the fleet and motor industries to be recognised for its contribution to greener road transport and environmental fleet management.

Fiat 500 Riva : "The Smallest Yacht in the world", symbol of outstanding Italian beauty. The Fiat 500, launched in 1957, strongly contributed to motorising Italy and quickly become a cult model of which over four million would be sold. Those were the years of the Dolce Vita, during which the country was rapidly evolving and restarting with dynamic vigour and enthusiasm. The legendary 500 went beyond meeting the growing need to make mobility accessible and expressed the deep-seated zest for life of an entire generation. The same expression of vitality was projected in the same period by Aquarama, the Riva speedboat synonymous with elegance and perfection. An authentic status symbol, made of premium quality materials, meticulously executed detailing and maximum craft expertise. As of today, the new 500 Riva can be ordered at all Fiat dealerships. The exclusive limited series stands out for its unique appearance and refined details, having been created with the partnership of Riva, a legendary brand in the nautical world, synonymous with elegance and Italian taste. Style is expressed by the dashboard, for instance: the gear knob is carved from solid mahogany and the dashboard, also made of mahogany, has maple inlays. These superior woods used to make the Riva yachts and the privilege of premium cars are re-interpreted on 500 through the combination of sophisticated technology and expert crafting. The iconic Fiat blends with the timeless allure of Riva, to produce a car that combines the style and design features of both brands. Two absolute legends in the world of cars and of boats meet to create a new desirable object, which symbolises outstanding Italian beauty. FCA in forefront at “Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016” :  From 23 to 26 June, the English county of West Sussex will host one of the most prestigious events of international motor sports. Making an appearance at the happening will be several rare classic cars of the Alfa Romeo, Abarth and Fiat brands, along with the latest new FCA models, to reassert the eternal link between the icons of the past and the cars currently being produced. FCA is taking part in the 2016 edition of the famous "Goodwood Festival of Speed" that will take place from 23 to 26 June in the English county of West Sussex. It is considered one of the most important international events dedicated to motor sports. The event, comprising the Hillclimb Race, themed shows and exhibitions of historical and current cars, annually draws a crowd of more than 150,000 fans and collectors from around the world. Also taking part in the prestigious event are several rare classic Alfa Romeo, Abarth and Fiat vehicles from the FCA Heritage collection, the new structure that coordinates all the company's activities in the world of classic motoring. In particular, the Alfa Romeo brand is displaying models such as the Giulia TI Super (1963), 1750 GT Am (1970), 33 TT 12 (1975) and 33.3-litre Le Mans (1970), all belonging to the Alfa Romeo Historic Museum in Arese named "La macchina del tempo" (information and opening hours on the site www.museoalfaromeo.com). The line-up is completed with the legendary 124 Abarth Rally Gr. 4 (1975) and the Fiat S 61 Corsa (1908). The classic cars will be on display at the Brooklands Paddock, and some of them will face the main attraction of the Festival of Speed, the "mixed-fast" track of the Goodwood Hillclimb. The track almost 2-kilometres long begins with a tree-lined road going through the southern corner of the Goodwood Estate, to then turn decisively in front of the Goodwood House before climbing up a fraught and narrow road enclosed by stone walls and thick forests heading toward the racetrack, which dominates on the top of the majestic South Downs. It should be noted that the difference in track height from start to finish is nearly 100 metres, and it is particularly technical and difficult, to the point of putting a strain on the skills of concentration and speed of the best drivers in the world. Finally, these rare vehicles will be accompanied by the latest new FCA models, confirming that eternal link between the icons of the past and the vehicles currently produced by the group. On hand to represent Alfa Romeo will be the 4C Spider supercar, the brand's modern icon, and the new Giulietta and Mito which have recently been refreshed and now display a strong family feeling with the new Giulia. It is precisely the latter that will be the undisputed star of the English event - in the Super and Quadrifoglio versions - which not only makes the brand's most authentic statement, but is also a symbol of Italian technological excellence and styling. The English event is also the perfect opportunity to get a close-up look at the latest Abarth products, ranging from the new Abarth 124 spider, a genuine roadster that guarantees all the excitement and pleasure of driving a high performance car developed by the Abarth Racing Team, to the new Abarth 595 Competizione, the evolution of the Abarth icon that has won over enthusiasts worldwide from 2008 to present. The spotlight is also trained on the new Abarth 124 Rally, a concentrate of pure technology and performance resulting from the Abarth Racing Team's experience to bring the brand back to the most glorious and demanding rally races. A special mention goes to the fully immersive experience based on Virtual Reality technology that will allow the guests of the brand's stand to uncover every single detail of the new Abarth 124 spider. By using a dedicated tool and aided by latest generation technologies, users will be able to move around the car, open its doors, sit inside and press the accelerator pedal to savour the sound of its engine and tailpipes, all immersed in a virtual reality. They will also have the chance to configure the new Abarth 124 spider to their liking and receive the configuration by email should they want to purchase it from any Abarth dealer.

Fiat Celebrates the Eightieth Anniversary of the 500 Topolino :  A great international event will be staged in Turin from June 16 to 19, to celebrate the eightieth anniversary of the Fiat 500 "Topolino" organised by the "Ling80" Committee. The iconic car was the symbol of motorisation not only in Italy and the benchmark in the years around World War II. It was Fiat's first economical car to be launched before the war and represented a revolution in how cars were made and perceived by the public: with the Topolino, motor cars were to become personal mobility instruments and expressions of unprecedented freedom. Celebrations will kick off in the former Lingotto plant, where on the day after tomorrow over two hundred Topolinos will climb up the famous elliptical ramp and stand on the test track on the roof of the historical building where production of the model started in 1936. With this ambitious project, engineer Dante Giacosa wanted to make motor cars accessible to as many people as possible. Made until 1955, the Topolino was the undisputed star of the reconstruction of Italy after the war. Again on Thursday, the cars will be parade from the Lingotto to the Pralormo Castle. The procession will be opened by the car owned by Dante Giacosa, which is now on show at the Fiat Heritage Centre. The parade will touch various key locations in and around the city during the various days of the event, including the royal hunting residence of Stupinigi, Racconigi Castle, Moncalieri, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the Juventus Stadium, the Mirafiori Motor Village and the National Automobile Museum. Precisely the latter location will be the stage for a conference focusing on the classic car history entitled "Back to the future", with Roberto Giolito, Head of Heritage FCA Italy on Thursday at 6.30 p.m. Starting from the concept of how the Topolino was the expression of all-encompassing automotive ingenuity, with its innovative engine, chassis, suspension and interior layout concept, Roberto Giolito will illustrate the invaluable legacy of this revolutionary motor car and how its concept and engineering was to influence many later models. The city of Turin and the Lingotto building will be the natural locations for this commemorative event. Opened in 1923, the Fiat factory is still admired today for its modernity and elegant vertical development. At the time, the solution of building a test track on the roof gained the admiration of architect Le Corbusier. Even before having been completed, the building which had been designed as a place of work had become the symbol of the burgeoning Italian industry and soon gained a footing in the nation's collective imaginary. The cars which like the Topolino rolled off the lines here have travelled through the decades and contributed to motorising Italy until production was transferred to more modern plants. After having been decommissioned, the Lingotto was renovated to suit the needs of a changing urban fabric: from fine example of industrial archaeology, the factory underwent a long interior refurbishment while maintaining its characteristic exterior appearance unaltered. It is an iconic location where the car which has rightfully gained its place in history was made.

Fiat 500 Riva : The new icon born of the special first-time union between two timeless Italian legends. Two absolute icons, in motoring and in boating, encounter one another to create a new object of desire and symbol of Italian beauty. And so, for its birthday on 4 July, the Fiat icon can show off a new exclusive made-to-measure look, designed with the elegance and expertise employed to create the world's most beautiful powerboats. An inimitable style made up of precious essences and of passion for chromatic detailing, to turn every journey into an exclusive cruise. The birth of the Fiat 500 in 1957 contributed strongly to the motorisation of a nation in rapid evolution, quickly becoming a cult model with sales of almost 4 million cars. This was the so-called Dolce Vita era, during which Italy rebuilt itself with dynamic vigour and enthusiasm. The mythical 500 went beyond meeting the growing need to make mobility accessible, it also expressed an entire generation's deep-seated will to life. The same expression of vitality was projected in the same period by Aquarama, a Riva speedboat synonymous with elegance and perfection. An authentic status symbol, featuring highest quality materials, meticulously executed detailing and maximum craft expertise. Allure and elegance are also features that typify the New 500 launched in 2007. Its massive success has turned it into an icon which with masterful coherence reconciles a series of contrasting opposites: a car which is both exclusive and accessible, a global best-seller with a profoundly Italian heart, a product of elegance that never forgets to offer enjoyment. Despite having sold 1,800,000 units, it remains utterly personal, having inspired numerous successful special series while maintaining its unique identity intact. Since 2015, it has renovated its iconic image both outside and inside, as it continues to offer richer content in terms of technology, engines and personalisation options: the icon has evolved further, refining the features which have made it a masterpiece. Today, Fiat and Riva have conceived a new limited edition special series: the 500 Riva, with unique stylistic choices and exquisite detailing. The "Evening Blue" colour of body and hood - created exclusively for the 500 Riva - is identical to that of Aquariva Super, the contemporary powerboat icon and heir to the mythical Aquarama. The central part of the dashboard, fashioned from the most exclusive mahogany inset with maple, provides an unmistakable flourish of Riva elegance, offering occupants the warm wood colours of life on-board. Various luxurious chrome details also exalt the "seafaring" spirit of 500 Riva, while aquamarine, the symbolic colour of the legendary nautical brand, is present in the beauty line of every boat-like car, unequivocally personalising this new limited-edition special series. The strength of the 500 plus Riva style have made it possible to create a car renewed in quality, technology and design, while remaining faithful to the values of the two legends which together have conjured up a timeless charm. 500 Riva thus becomes a sort of 'smallest boat' offering elegance and style, performance and comfort, turning every journey into an exclusive roadway cruise.

The 4Doors version went on sale at the end of 2015 and has already sold more than 35,000 units in the EMEA area: its success is based on an economical ethos combined with best-in-class passenger and luggage space, which have reopened the door to the medium-compact sedan market in many countries. Thanks in part to these characteristics, the Tipo family has collected the prestigious Autobest "Best Buy Car 2016" award, chosen by a jury of 26 journalists from the most authoritative European car magazines. This accolade underlines the model's standout traits of design, quality, comfort and versatility and rewards an exceptional offering that is squarely focused on value for money, a crucial concept in Fiat's functional family strategy, as summed up by the slogan "You don't need much to get a lot". The Fiat Tipo 4Doors, 5Doors and Station Wagon share the same values but each have unique personalities as diverse as their respective target audiences, from families and couples to young people or professionals. The 4 and 5-door versions are available to order at showrooms in major European countries. The Tipo family was developed around the brief "Skills, no frills" and combines the Fiat brand's historic concepts of functionality, simplicity and personality in an extraordinary value-for-money offering. Personality-wise, the Fiat Tipo projects a dynamic style and a strong character in all its versions. The simple choices provided to the customer result in a linear range of engines and trim levels that appeals directly to the heart of the market.Functionality has been a hallmark of Fiat for more than 80 years and has contributed to a back catalogue of highly successful models. In this case, the carefully designed internal spaces offer unbeatable liveability and boot capacity for this category, as well as great versatility of use, which is best expressed by the Station Wagon version. In terms of size, the 5-door model is 4.37 m long, 1.79 m wide and 1.50 m high, while the Station Wagon adds an extra 20 cm to reach 4.57 m, with a height of 1.51 m thanks to the standard-fit longitudinal roof bars. The width remains unchanged. The load capacity under the parcel shelf is top-in-class: 440 litres for the 5Doors and 550 litres for the Station Wagon, which also integrates supremely practical solutions that maximise flexibility of use. The new car fits a reliable suspension layout for highly accurate driving, brilliant road-holding and outstanding comfort: independent wheels McPherson on the front axle and interconnected wheels torque beam on the rear. The two layouts are optimised to reduce weight and thus contribute to improving the car's fuel efficiency, without compromising the dynamic driving experience. In the EMEA region, the range follows a simple and straightforward logic: three body styles, three trim levels, three engines with three different fuel options and three types of gearbox. Specifically, the sedan, 5Doors and Station Wagon will be available in the Pop, Easy and Lounge versions. The Euro 6 engine range offers diesel, petrol and dual fuel (petrol/LPG) solutions that target the heart of the 95 to 120 HP market. The gearbox can be manual, automatic dual-clutch and automatic with torque converter, depending on the engine.Fuel consumption and emissions are especially low and the ECO version emits as little as 89g/km of CO2 under the NEDC test cycle. In true Fiat style, the new additions to the Tipo family are packed with plenty of clever solutions that make life better for everyone on board. The line-up offers remarkably generous standard equipment and débuts the innovative UconnectTM 7" HD LIVE system, featuring a 7" high-resolution colour touchscreen display with capacitive screen that the user can pinch and swipe just like a tablet. All this is complemented by active and passive security systems. From the early stages of development, special attention was given to total cost of ownership (TCO), a key consideration for both private and business-to-business customers. The top-in-class TCO values are made possible by particularly low fuel consumption coupled with low maintenance, repair and running costs. Furthermore, the simple and straightforward range and the comprehensive standard equipment keep the residual value high in the long term, while the specific Business versions offer a comprehensive solution to the needs of fleet customers.
