Hyundai ranked highest in overall with a score of 78 PP100, with Suzuki second with 87 PP100, followed by Kia with 94 PP100. Premium manufacturers fared the worst in the survey, with Mercedes-Benz - the best-performing premium brand - achieving 14th place in the table. The 2018 UK Vehicle Dependability Study was based on responses from 13,536 owners of new vehicles registered from February 2015 through February 2017.

Hyundai is most reliable car brand, according to JD Power survey

Hyundai has topped the 2018 JD Power Survey as the most reliable car brand. The Korean manufacturer achieved the least faults per 100 vehicles in the study, which measures problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of vehicles in the UK after 12-36 months of ownership. The most reliable 13 car brands in the UK were volume brands in the 2018 study, which determined dependability by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. NEXO: THE NEXT-GENERATION FUEL CELL VEHICLE FROM HYUNDAI

Hyundai Motor have announced that NEXO will be the name of its all-new, dedicated Fuel Cell EV during a press conference at CES 2018, and disclosed Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that expand its autonomous driving potential. NEXO is the technological flagship of Hyundai’s growing eco-vehicle portfolio and marks Hyundai’s continued momentum toward having the industry’s most diverse CUV powertrain lineup. The NEXO model will spearhead Hyundai Motor’s plans to accelerate development of low emission vehicles, in line with Hyundai Motor Group’s renewed goal of introducing 18 eco-friendly models to global markets by 2025. This new development roadmap also represents the next step for Hyundai Motor towards realising the ultimate ambition of creating a cleaner environment through eco-friendly vehicles. Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM) Hyundai’s Blind-spot View Monitor is an industry-first technology. It shows drivers on a center cluster screen the rear and side views of NEXO using cameras while changing lanes in either direction. The system uses wide angle surround view monitors (SVM) on each side of the vehicle to monitor areas that cannot be seen by a traditional rearview mirror. Hyundai is the first automaker to provide drivers video footage from both sides of the vehicle. Lane Following Assist (LFA) and Highway Driving Assist (HDA) Lane Following Assist is an all-new technology for Hyundai and it debuts in the NEXO. LFA automatically adjusts steering to help keep NEXO centered in its lane of travel. LFA can keep NEXO centred at speeds between 0 and 90 miles per hour on both highways and city streets. When paired with Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist (HDA) which utilizes sensors and map data to ensure safe operation as well as automatically adjust speed in limited environments, drivers will be able to traverse long distances with greater ease and improved safety. Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) RSPA enables NEXO to autonomously park or retrieve itself from a parking space with or without a driver in the car. The RSPA system can even back a NEXO into a parking spot by itself with a touch of a button from the driver. When faced with any challenging parking scenario, NEXO drivers will be able to park with complete confidence and accuracy. Improving upon the acclaimed ix35 FCEV, the NEXO has an estimated driving range of 500 miles (NEDC) – 134 miles more than its predecessor. Acceleration and power have increased to improve the overall performance. Designed to handle extreme temperature and environments, the NEXO testing has proven that the vehicle is capable of starting after being subject to overnight temperatures of -20 degrees Fahrenheit. NEXO boasts cold start capability within 30 seconds which is an industry-leading achievement and the fuel cell system warms up faster for maximum performance. The NEXO also has excellent cooling performance on steep grades with temperatures exceeding 120 degree Fahrenheit. Improvements in the air supply system, performance at high altitudes and refueling times, along with overall efficiency and fuel economy put the NEXO in a class all its own. By already offering the broadest range of powertrains, Hyundai is at the forefront of eco-mobility. The power of All-New Kona Electric The All-New Kona Electric features two different powertrain versions, offering customers one of the most powerful electric motors. The long-range battery version provides driving range of up to 292 miles*, delivering a maximum output of 204 PS (150 kW). With a battery capacity of 39,2 kWh, the basic version drives up to * on a single charge with the motor delivering 135PS (99 kW). Exterior Design The All-New Kona Electric is characterised by its distinctive high-contrast fender cladding and the muscular surfaces atop a stable, wide stance. The key design elements at the front are the closed grille as well as the Composite Light. They create the car’s progressive appearance with LED daytime running lights positioned on top of the LED headlights. To enhance the progressive SUV look of the front, it features a distinctive lamp bezel and front bumper. Lateral air curtains at the front bumper enhance the aerodynamics by reducing turbulences in the wheel arch area. The profile of the All-New Kona Electric reflects an eye-catching and agile character. The sleek profile with short rear overhangs and wing-type bumpers underline the forward motion of the car. The roof rack enhances the sleek roof line and supports the active lifestyle of customers, for example by mounting a roof carrier. To further enhance the refined character, the All-New Kona Electric features silver side sills, adding a slightly elegant touch to the sporty SUV. The design theme of the front is picked up at the rear with the rear bumper and a lamp bezel on the slim LED rear lights. Wrap-around claddings with integrated indicator and reversing lights additionally emphasise the progressive design of the All-New Kona Electric. The rear spoiler features an integrated LED brake light. With the width of 1,800 mm and low stance of 1,570 mm (+20 mm compared with the regular Kona), the All-New Kona Electric has a bold appearance on the road, further enhanced by the dedicated 17’’ alloy wheels. The car’s stance is further supported by its length of 4,180 mm (+15 mm compared with the regular Kona) and a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The All-New Kona Electric is available with a two-tone roof, offering a wide variety of individual choices to match the customer’s style. Seven exterior colours in total can be combined with three roof colours for a total of 21 stylings. The roof and exterior mirrors can be chosen in Phantom Black, Dark Knight and Chalk White. The exterior colours are available in Chalk White, Dark Knight, Tangerine Comet, Ceramic Blue, Pulse Red, Acid Yellow and All-New Galactic Grey. Interior Design For the interior, customers can choose Black, available in woven, a combination of cloth and leather or pure leather. As an option, there is the three-tone Blue and Grey interior colour available with cloth and leather or leather. Most prominent is the dedicated centre console in the All-New Kona Electric, which combines all the buttons to facilitate operation of the car intuitively with the shift-by-wire gear control. An extra storage space for personal items can be found underneath the centre console. The new high-resolution seven-inch supervision cluster displays the different gauges, such as the speedometer, battery charge level, energy flow and driving mode to the driver. Depending on the selected drive mode, background colour and gauges are adapted to always provide the most important and useful information. In addition, the head-up display (HUD) projects the relevant driving information directly to the driver’s line of sight. This allows faster processing of information while keeping attention on the road ahead. With a projected image size of eight inches at two metres distance and a luminance of more than 10,000 candela per square metre, the new head-up display guarantees optimal visibility in different light conditions. The angle and height of the head-up display can be adjusted to ensure ideal visibility for individual needs. Once activated via the button beside the steering wheel, the HUD deploys vertically and disappears into the dashboard when not in use. While driving, the HUD supports safe driving by displaying information, such as speed, navigation commands and fuel level as well as safety-related warnings from assistance systems, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Speed Limit Information Function and Driver Attention Warning. Information about the audio mode and radio are also projected. The All-New Kona Electric offers several features for maximum on-board comfort, such as the power front seats with 8-way electric adjustment for optimal seating positions for each front passenger. The driver benefits from an additional 2-way electric lumbar support system. Furthermore, the front seats have a 3-step ventilation and 3-step heating system for a convenient drive in different weather conditions. Another convenience feature for cold weather conditions is the optional heated steering wheel. Plenty of space is offered to both passengers and luggage. The legroom in the first row is 1,054 mm, while passengers in the back seat benefit from 850 mm of legroom. The headroom accounts for 1,006 mm in the front and 948 mm in the rear. Luggage space totalling 332 l, including storage of the charging cable (373 l without), offers generous roominess, making it suitable for everyday needs. Driving performance Driving the All-New Kona Electric is an uncompromising statement about a clean mobility – an objective Hyundai is highly committed to – by remaining true to oneself through driving a stylish, bold SUV. The choice of two different powertrains again strengthens the uncompromising character of the car. Hyundai decided to use a lithium-ion polymer battery pack for the All-New Kona Electric instead of conventional nickel-metal hydrid batteries. This provides lower memory sensitivity and excellent charge and discharge efficiency, along with outstanding maximum output. Powertrains The All-New Electric offers pure e-mobility with two different powertrains. The long-range version with the 64 kWh battery provides an electric range of up to 292 miles and an energy consumption of 15.2 kWh/100 km (internal target under WLTP regulations). The electric motor delivers an output of 150 kW, accelerating the All-New Kona Electric to 100 kph in impressive 7.6 seconds. With a battery capacity of 39,2 kWh, the basic version drives you up to 186 miles on a single charge with the motor delivering 99 kW and an energy consumption as low as 14.8 kWh/100 km (internal target under WLTP regulations). Both powertrain versions deliver 395 Nm of immediate torque, offering the driver of Kona Electric great fun-to-drive, having the full power available from the first second, providing a maximum speed of 167 km/h. The shift-by-wire gear control system enables operation of the car simply by pressing buttons to switch driving modes. It also eliminates the routing space required for housing the mechanical linkages between a normal shifter and the transmission, providing additional storage space in the front of the car. The fully-electric subcompact SUV made by Hyundai also features an electronic parking brake (EPB) at the command of the driver’s fingertips. Charging the lithium-ion polymer battery up to 80% only takes about 54 minutes using a 100 kW direct current (DC) fast charger. With the 7,2 kW on-board-charger, charging with alternating current (AC) takes 9 hours 40 minutes for the long-range battery pack and 6 hours 10 minutes for the shorter-range battery pack. Drivers also have the option of charging their car at a compatible regular household power socket using the ICCB-cable (in-cable control box). The charging port is located in the vehicle’s front next to the Hyundai logo. Connected and Caring To suit customer’s varied lifestyles, the All-New Kona Electric contains advanced connectivity and navigation features. To enhance seamless integration of the driver’s smartphone, making operation more intuitive and safe while driving, the car is equipped with the Display Audio system, which is available with Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and Bluetooth connectivity. This way, users can control their music, telephone or navigation functions on the seven-inch capacitive colour LCD touchscreen, while remaining focused on the road. The Display Audio system also includes a rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines. Additionally, the seven-inch information screen is located in the centre of the instrument cluster between the two dials – a standard for Kona Electric. Customers also have the option to choose the eight-inch navigation system, offering the same connectivity features with Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and Bluetooth. In addition, it includes a free seven-year subscription to LIVE services, offering updated information in real time about weather, traffic and speed cameras (where legally allowed), plus online searches for points of interest. The navigation system also features 3D maps and Hyundai’s unique Lifetime MapcareTM** with free annual map and software updates included. To enhance vehicle operation, the system includes a rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines. **Lifetime MapCare™ is the commercial term for Hyundai’s subscription to the MapCare™ programme, with which annual map updates are assured for eligible Hyundai vehicles for a minimum period of ten years after the model’s end of production. Wireless inductive charging To ensure that occupants’ phones are always charged, the All-New Kona Electric also provides a wireless inductive charging pad (Qi standard) for mobile phones. The phone’s charging status is visualised with a small indicator lamp above. To ensure that the phone will not be forgotten inside the car, the central display in the instrument cluster shows a reminder when switching off the car. For further connection of devices, the All-New Kona Electric comes standard with a USB port and an AUX jack. High-end sound system by Krell Today’s customers like to listen to their favourite soundtrack in their car, for this reason the All-New Kona Electric offers a high-end sound system by audio manufacturer Krell, featuring eight speakers including two 20 mm tweeters, four 160 mm woofer speakers, one 100 mm centre speaker and a 200 mm subwoofer speaker. The eight-channel amplifier delivers 45 W per channel to maximise the audio experience inside the car. Hyundai SmartSense: Highest level of active safety The All-New Kona Electric features Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driving assistance technologies, to comply with the highest European safety standards: Cruise Control - Smart Adaptive Speed Control with Stop & Go function, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning System with Lane Keep Assist,, Blind-Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Driver Attention Warning and Speed Limit Information Function. Cruise Control – Smart Adaptive Speed Control with Stop & Go Using front radar sensors, Smart Adaptive Speed Control with Stop & Go keeps a constant speed and distance from the vehicle ahead by automatically accelerating and braking. If traffic comes to a halt, the Stop & Go system applies the brake until the car comes to a standstill and accelerates to the desired speed as soon as the road is clear. If the vehicle stops for longer than three seconds, the driver has to activate the system again with the steering wheel controls or by briefly pressing the accelerator pedal. The system operates from 0 to 180 km/h. Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection The All-New Kona Electric is fitted with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection, an advanced active safety feature that alerts drivers to emergency situations, braking automatically if required. Using front radar and camera sensors, AEB operates in three stages. Initially warning the driver visually and acoustically, it controls the brake according to the collision danger level, and applies maximum braking force to avoid a collision or minimise damage when a collision is unavoidable. The system is activated when a vehicle or pedestrian is sensed in front of the car, operating at speeds of 8 km/h or above. Lane Departure Warning System with Lane Keep Assist (LKAS) The Lane Departure Warning System with Lane Keeping Assist alerts the driver in unsafe movements at over 60 km/h by sensing the car’s position. The Lane Departure Warning System sounds an alarm before the car moves over white, grey and blue lines as well as cats eyes on the road, while the Lane Keep Assist warns the driver acoustically and visually before inducing corrective steering to guide the driver back to a safe position. Lane Following Assist (LFA) The system assists the driver to keep the centre of the lane by controlling the steering. It works from a standstill up to speeds of 150 kilometres per hour on both highways and inter-urban roads. Blind-Spot Detection (BSD) Also using radar, the Blind-Spot Detection (BCD) monitors the rear corners and, if another vehicle is detected, a visual alert appears on the exterior mirrors. If the driver then activates the indicators, an audible signal is emitted. This also applies to lane change situations in which a vehicle is detected. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) Using the rear corner radar, the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW) reduces the risk of collision with approaching traffic when reversing out of narrow areas with low visibility. Using radar to scan a 180-degree area behind the vehicle for approaching cross traffic, RCCW alerts the driver visually and audibly. Driver Attention Warning (DAW) The Driver Attention Warning (DAW) raises safety and convenience to an entirely new level by continuously monitoring and analysing driving patterns through data inputs, such as the steering angle, steering torque and vehicle position in the traffic lane. When a pattern of fatigue/distraction is identified, DAW gets the driver’s attention with an audible alert and pop-up message suggesting a break. Speed Limit Information Function The Speed Limit Information Function uses the front camera and information from the navigation system to identify road speed signs and displays the speed limit in real time. The information is displayed in both the navigation system display and the TFT cluster. High Beam Assist The headlamps are available with state-of-the-art LED technology, pairing daylight-like illumination with a long lifetime and significantly lower energy consumption than halogen lights. When switched to automatic mode, High Beam Assist (HBA) detects both oncoming vehicles and vehicles in the same lane ahead at night, and changes to low-beam as appropriate, reducing blinding effects on other drivers. Whenever there are no vehicles detected, the system automatically reactivates the high beam. The static cornering lights turns additional cornering lamps on and off according to the vehicle speed and steering angle. Highest Passive Safety The All-New Kona Electric benefits from superior rigidity through the application of high strength steel, high impact energy absorption and minimised distortion, in order to protect passengers in the event of a collision. Thanks to an enlarged area for the appliance of hot stamping and a ring-shaped cabin shell structure with ultra-high-strength steel, the safety zone has been enlarged for top crashworthiness. The multiload-pass structure of the cabin disperses energy in various directions in the event of a collision and reduces the impact. HYUNDAI IONIQ NAMED UK?S BEST HYBRID

Hyundai Motor scooped another top accolade at the 2018 What Car? Awards. The IONIQ Hybrid was named as the UK’s ‘Best Hybrid’, while the high-performance i30 N was commended as the ‘Best Hot Hatch for £20,000-£30,000’. The awards, judged by members of the What Car? road-test and editorial team, praised the IONIQ Hybrid for its cost, equipment and driveability and the all-round performance capability of the i30N. Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car? said, "In the last year, we've seen a huge increase in the number of people reading about hybrid cars on whatcar.com, which is why we felt it was important to recognise the best models in the class. HYUNDAI MOTOR UK ANNOUNCES i30 N PRICING AND SPECIFICATIONS

Hyundai Motor UK has officially announced the pricing and specification of the i30 N, which will go on sale in the UK on 4th January. The i30 N is Hyundai’s first performance model under the Hyundai N sub brand, engineered by Hyundai’s dedicated High Performance Vehicle Division, led by Albert Biermann. The N moniker stands for both Namyang - Hyundai Motor’s global R&D Centre in Korea where i30 N was born - and for the Nürburgring, home to Hyundai Motor’s European Test Centre where the i30 N was further developed and tested. The i30 N is available in two specifications, i30 N and i30 N Performance. Both models continue with the i30’s already extensive list of standard equipment, whilst adding N specific interior and exterior equipment as well performance modifications. The i30 N is priced from £24,995 on the road and features a host of standard equipment in line with the rest of the i30 range, including LED head and tail lights, Smart Adaptive Speed Control, Keyless Entry with Engine Start/Stop Button, 8” Touchscreen Satellite Navigation with Android Auto and Apple Car Play. i30 N also offers an array of performance equipment, including 18” alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, Electronically Controlled Suspension, 17” ventilated front brake discs with 16” rear and manually operated hand brake. The performance equipment continues with the i30 N’s Torque Vectoring System and steering wheel mounted Drive Mode Buttons, where the driver can access and customise engine and suspension settings. Priced from £27,995 on the road, the i30 N Performance offers additional performance-specific equipment, including 19” alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tyres of a compound that’s specific to the i30 N, an additional 25PS of power, Electronical Limited Slip Differential and 18” ventilated front brake discs with 17” rear. The i30 N Performance also adds interior equipment, including leather and suede seats with electrical operation on the driver’s and passenger’s seats. i30 N Performance also includes an Active Variable Exhaust System which allows the vehicle to reveal its playful character with ‘crackle’ and ‘pop’ sounds from the exhaust when in N or Custom drive mode. Both i30 N models feature standard 8” Touchscreen Satellite Navigation with Android Auto and Apple Car Play as found in other i30 models with the addition of N specific functions such as drive mode display, suspension, engine and transmission set up, lap timer, acceleration timer and performance gauges including engine torque, turbo boost and g force display. The i30 N models also feature a bespoke instrument cluster with a 4.2” LCD displaying a number of drive mode and vehicle control settings, shift timing lights and a variable LED tachometer, with a maximum engine rev light which adjusts according to engine temperature. The cluster also features soft blue lighting and the Hyundai N logo. Other shared equipment includes Launch Control to assist the driver with maximum acceleration from a standing start, Rev Match Function to eliminate the need for heel and toe gear changes, and Brake Control knock back pre-fill to maximise braking response after high g-load cornering. Body performance modifications over the standard i30 bring additions including re-inforced front suspension strut rings, strengthened front sub frame and a central tunnel support bracket. The body modifications continue inside with the addition of a rear stiffness bar across the rear wheel arch lowers. For the more focussed driver, the i30 N Performance also offers a no cost option of cloth seats in place of the standard leather and suede, providing a weight saving of 12.7 kgs. In outright performance terms, both i30 N and i30 N Performance are electronically limited to 155 miles per hour, with the 0-62 sprint reached in 6.4 and 6.1 seconds respectively. Both models share a “standard” torque figure of 353Nm between 1500 – 4700 rpm, however the 2.0 turbocharged inline 4 engine can also deliver an additional 25Nm of torque during its over boost function, which is available at all times dependant on exhaust temperature. The i30 N range is available in 6 colours - Clean Slate, Polar White, Micron Grey, Phantom Black and Engine Red. Alongside these there is also a new N specific colour of Performance Blue, inspired by Hyundai Motorsports WRC and TCR programmes. HYUNDAI MOTOR’S NEXT-GEN FUEL CELL SUV PROMISES RANGE AND STYLE

Hyundai Motor has offered an early glimpse of its next generation fuel cell vehicle, well ahead of the hydrogen-powered SUV’s official launch early next year. At a special preview event held in Seoul, the near-production-ready version exhibited its impressive capabilities while revealing its futuristic design. The yet-to-be-named model embodies Hyundai Motor’s commitment to a new era for advanced eco-friendly vehicle development.  Fourth generation fuel cell systemThe new SUV shown at the special event previews Hyundai Motor’s second commercially produced hydrogen model and uses the company’s fourth generation of hydrogen fuel cell technology. The vehicle, its capabilities and fuel cell technologies are an evolution of Hyundai Motor’s global research, development and real-world evaluation programs. The new vehicle reinforces the company’s leadership in fuel cell-based electric-powertrain systems, created with expertise honed through the world’s first commercial production of a fuel cell vehicle in 2013.  The new fuel cell model was developed on four key pillars that focus on fuel cell system efficiency, performance (maximum output), durability, and tank storage density.  Fuel cell system efficiency: By enhancing fuel cell performance, reducing hydrogen consumption, and optimizing key components, the vehicle’s efficiency is greatly improved compared to its predecessor, the ix35 Fuel Cell (Tucson Fuel Cell in some markets). The new SUV boasts an efficiency level of 60%, or a 9% increase from the ix35’s 55.3%. With enhanced system efficiency, the new model targets a driving range of 800km on a single charge (based on New European Driving Cycle standards). Performance (maximum output): The new model’s maximum output is enhanced by 20% compared to its predecessor, boasting an impressive 163PS of power. The fuel cell SUV also improves the car’s cold start capability, overcoming the challenges of starting fuel cell vehicles in temperatures below freezing point. The vehicle’s architecture is optimized to allow it to be started at -30 degrees Celsius (22 degrees Fahrenheit), by incorporating key components in the fuel stack developed by Hyundai Motor. In addition to boosting the new car’s capabilities, the enhanced components – such as MEA (membrane electrode assembly) and bipolar plates – also helped to reduce production costs.  Durability: By employing highly durable catalyst technology, the new hydrogen-powered SUV ensures even greater longevity than its predecessor.  Hydrogen storage: The next generation hydrogen vehicle makes significant improvements in tank storage density. The tank package now features three equally-sized tanks, as opposed to two of different sizes. World-class tank gravimetric capacity (hydrogen storage mass per tank weight) was achieved through innovations to the plastic liner configuration and efficient layering pattern, which resulted in a reduction of thickness.  The mass-produced new vehicle will also feature advanced driver assistance technologies, alongside its extensive hydrogen-powered range. The details of the new ADAS features will be disclosed in January at the 2018 CES, along with the official model name. “With exceptional efficiency, serene styling, and uncompromised performance, our next generation fuel cell SUV is the true epitome of an eco-friendly vehicle of the future,” said Lee Ki-sang, Senior Vice President of Hyundai Motor Group’s Eco Technology Center. “Hyundai Motor will take lead in developing and producing green energy vehicles that would ultimately complement a near-zero emission society.”  Futuristic design inspired by natureThe new FCEV inherits striking design features from the FE Concept, which was introduced at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show. The new model builds on the earlier concept’s design, taking an organic and flowing form, inspired by nature – namely water, the car’s only emission – with the clean design emphasizing its non-polluting nature.  The new vehicle embodies pure and serene design, which reflects its calming presence on the road. It also exhibits a confident, charismatic SUV stance, that reflects its capabilities to travel long distances and explore remote places, all while being in harmony with nature.  A number of minimalist design elements highlight the model’s technical maturity and cutting-edge technology. The simple full width position lamps create a futuristic effect that again reflects nature, representing the edge of the horizon.  The high-tech look is augmented by low-drag elements that accentuate the clean and calm design. The door handles sit flush to the car, while the air curtain – in conjunction with the air tunnel inside the D-pillar – maximizes aerodynamic efficiency. The SUV’s wheel design aims to capture both captivating style and optimized low drag airflow with a specialized two-piece construction.  The clean and simple interior layout intuitively integrates high-tech elements, to avoid clutter and emphasize a calming presence. The wide dashboard with its high console reinforces the superior SUV-style driving position and incorporates the ergonomically-designed intuitive controls and AV display screen.  Reflecting the exterior design, the interior features subdued yet sophisticated colors inspired by nature. The understated tones help create an ultramodern environment, complemented by industry leading bio-materials with eco-friendly certification. Completing the futuristic finish is a unique blend of woven fabric and suede used for accents in the seat design. New eco-vehicle development roadmapThe new model will spearhead Hyundai Motor’s plans to accelerate development of low emission vehicles, in line with Hyundai Motor Group’s renewed goal of introducing 31 eco-friendly models (Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors combined) to global markets by 2020. This new development roadmap also represents the next step for Hyundai Motor and its affiliate toward realizing the ultimate ambition of creating a cleaner environment through eco-friendly vehicles. Hyundai Motor plans to take a multi-pronged approach to its eco-vehicle program. The company is committed to a future vehicle line-up comprising a variety of powertrain options – electric, hybrid and fuel cell – to suit customers’ varied lifestyles.  Spurred on by greater global demand for fuel-efficient, eco-friendly vehicles, the roadmap sets out the brand’s goal of leading the global popularization of hybrid vehicles, expanding its lineup to SUVs and large vehicles. Another part of the plan is the development of 4WD and FR (Front Engine Rear Wheel Drive) variants, building on its proprietary Transmission-Mounted Electrical Device (TMED) system, which was developed in 2011.  While Hyundai Motor continues to develop its leadership of the electric vehicle market with its current IONIQ model, the company also aims to establish a lineup ranging from small EVs to large and luxurious Genesis-brand models. Hyundai Motor’s electric vehicle development will take place in multiple phases: Launch of EV version of the Kona compact SUV, with range of 390km in first half of 2018Launch of Genesis EV model in 2021Launch of long-range EV, with 500km range after 2021 Furthermore, Hyundai Motor will develop its first dedicated architecture for pure electric vehicles, which will allow the company to produce multiple models with longer driving ranges.  Hyundai Motor will also strengthen its global leadership in hydrogen fuel cell technology. This will center on enhancing research and development efforts to boost FCEV performance and durability, while also making the technology smaller and cheaper so that it can be applied to smaller sedans. As part of these efforts, Hyundai Motor will unveil a new hydrogen-powered bus in the fourth quarter of this year. Hydrogen Society within everyone’s reachHyundai Motor will also take part in the Hydrogen House, projected by the Seoul city government, displaying prototypes of the new fuel cell vehicle starting today until November 17 that will promote emission-free fuel cell vehicles and a Hydrogen Society. It is through initiatives like this that Hyundai Motor will demonstrate how a Hydrogen Energy Society could be realized in the not-too-distant future.  Hyundai Motor, the world’s first automaker to have introduced a mass production line for hydrogen fuel cell cars, has supplied fuel cell vehicles since 2013, and now sells them in 18 countries around the world. The company began researching fuel cell technology in 1998 and developed its first fuel cell vehicle based on the Santa Fe SUV, as part of a collaboration with CaFCP (California Fuel Cell Partnership).  Through numerous years of development and production, Hyundai Motor has proved that fuel cell vehicles are as competitive as internal combustion engine cars in terms of safety and reliability. Hyundai Motor will reveal the new hydrogen SUV early next year in Korea, followed by the North American and European markets. The company will also consider expanding availability of its new fuel cell model to markets with high growth potential for eco-friendly vehicles such as China.

High Wycombe, 25 July 2017 – A panel of fleet industry experts has named the Hyundai IONIQ as the ‘Best Green Technology’ for businesses. Judges of the 2017 BusinessCar Fleet Technology Awards – the ‘Techies’ – said the choice of three electrified powertrains for fleets was the most significant factor in giving it the top prize. The Hyundai IONIQ is unique in offering separate hybrid, full electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains within one body type. It enables business car decision-makers to specify the IONIQ that best meets the needs of their drivers, depending on driving style, travel frequency, and the distances typically covered. The capabilities of the zero-emission IONIQ Electric are perfect for fleets focused on their carbon footprint or the lowest BIK rates for users. Completing the line-up of powertrain choices in 2017 is the IONIQ Plug-in Hybrid, offering ultra-low CO2 emissions of just 26g/km and a BIK rate of just 9% for 2017/18. Recycled plastic is combined with powdered wood and volcanic stone for the interior door covers, providing the same quality appearance as conventional oil-based plastics.
